I would recommend doing in advance, this is just tickets into the Louvre and does not really provide any additional value (unless you cannot get tickets)

We booked timed entry. It was quick & easy to enter the museum. It was a hot day (33 degrees) so we didn’t want to be standing in a queue for long.

Tickets arrived on time via Whats App and email. Flexibility to cancel if needed. Was able to get into the museum at the time I selected on the website. Wait time was about 5 min to get into the Louvre with these tickets. Went very smoothly, was able to access everything, and buying these tickets in advance was much easier than trying to buy in person and wait in the hours long line in the summer heat!

Get a timed entry ticket if you want to go to the Louvre. You’ll get in faster. Just so you know the former palace turned museum is huge and you won’t want to try to digest it in one sitting. I suggest you take a peek at some websites that have top 8 to 20 lists that you might want to see. We used Rick Steve’s Louvre audio guide and it certainly helped get us on the right track. Saw the Mona Lisa(along with everyone else in France lol), Venus de Milo, Liberty leading the People, Napoleon Bonaparte and the Coronation of Empress Josephine, The Winged Victory, Psyche Revived by Cupid’s Kiss, just to name some of the more popular pieces. There is also a restaurant on the first floor that you may want to visit, get a cappuccino and sit outside to take a break. All that took about two hours to give you an idea. There’s just so much you’ll see and if you’ve ever had any college history classes youll definitely recognize some of the artwork. Almost surreal. We really enjoyed it!
