Chureito Pagoda
The Chureito Pagoda, located in Fujiyoshida City, Japan, offers stunning views of Mount Fuji. It is a five-storied pagoda situated within the Arakura Sengen Shrine. Visitors climb a series of steps to reach the pagoda, where they can enjoy panoramic vistas, especially during cherry blossom season. The pagoda has become an iconic spot for photography enthusiasts and tourists alike. It's advisable to visit early in the morning or late afternoon to avoid crowds and capture the best views
Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Jinja Shrine
Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Shrine is a Shinto shrine located in Fujiyoshida City, Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan, at the northern foot of Mount Fuji. It serves as the main entrance to the Yoshida Trail, one of the traditional climbing routes to the summit of Mount Fuji. The shrine is dedicated to Konohanasakuya-hime, the Shinto goddess of Mount Fuji, and it has a long history dating back to ancient times. Visitors often come to the shrine to pray for safe travels and successful climbs before embarking on their journey up the mountain.

⭐☆☆☆☆ We booked a Private Mt. Fuji Day Tour through Viator, operated by Matcha Tours (Ishi), with guide Raizo (“Sheesh”). The tour was advertised to start at 8:30 am. We were slightly delayed (15 min) due to a medical issue, which we communicated immediately. About 20 minutes after leaving, the guide began joking that we would not be going to Mt. Fuji. Given that this was the main reason for booking the tour, the entire group of ten reasonably assumed he was joking. Before departure, he also informed us we could only visit two destinations. We agreed and selected Mt. Fuji and Oshino Hakkai village. The tour included one restroom stop and time at Oshino Hakkai village, followed by lunch near the lake. We declined the optional boat activity and explained we wanted to eat quickly so we could proceed to Mt. Fuji, and a meeting time was agreed. After lunch, only a few minutes into the drive, we were told we would not be going to Mt. Fuji at all due to “lack of time.” This was completely unexpected and unacceptable, especially since we had agreed on Mt. Fuji as a destination before leaving and had even offered to pay for overtime. While the operator later offered a partial refund of $450, this situation highlights a failure in Viator’s oversight. As the platform responsible for connecting travelers to operators, Viator should ensure that advertised itineraries, especially for private tours, are honored accurately and reliably. I am sharing this review to warn future travelers: confirm all details in writing, and do not assume that a “private” tour booked through Viator guarantees the main destination will be delivered as promised.

The experience was great, we got to see the main attractions, gutted we couldn’t see the cherry blossom tree, as it isn’t its season .. but overall it was nice ! The 400 steps were definitely worth it in the end, Sikii, our tour guide was amazing. 100% recommend !

We loved this tour! Sikii was a great guide! He took us to many spots around Mt Fuji so we had the opportunity to see it from different perspectives. We enjoyed the numerous stops for views, photos, food and shops. Thank you Sikii!

Our guide Zubi was amazing. He picked us up early on Saturday morning (6am from our Tokyo hotel) to avoid crowds and traffic and he did not disappoint! The car was clean and comfortable and Zubi told us about the history and language and culture. We arrived at our first stop within 1hr 15mins of setting off and had amazing views of Mt Fuji from the Pagoda. There were virtually no crowds, and if you're unfit like me and don't fancy 398 steps to the top, there's a winding road / path you can take instead! We then did a park / lake walk which was stunning, and it was only 9am by the time we left! Few crowds and amazing views! We then did the rope walk. Do not be fooled by the name, it's a cable car up a mountain to a rabbit shrine. We took amazing photos and even had fun throwing clay pots through a rope loop! Then off to the shrine, which was amazing! I picked up some gorgeous souvenirs that I can't get anywhere else in Japan! Then finally off to the village with 8 ponds. Feed the fish at the museum if you can, we did it twice! Although it isn't widely advertised, this is the filming location for the film The Wolverine with Hugh Jackman towards the end of the film! Then back to the hotel. Traffic was getting bad by 3pm so an early start and early finish is worth it! Top marks!

This trip was fantastic! We started our day early at the recommendation of Zubi, our wonderful guide, and he was absolutely right as we avoided all the crowds even though it was the weekend. He took us to the best locations for photos (and took some of both of us!) and navigated all the complexities and timings so that we could just enjoy the trip. He gave us some great background and info about the locations as we went and even suggested a great place for lunch (with vegetarian options- which was so helpful!). The locations on the trip were well-chosen and timed perfectly as they only really started to get busy as we were leaving. We loved getting immersed in the history, culture and scenery. Thanks to Zubi for a day we’ll always remember!

Azhar picked us up from our hotel at 6:30am on a Saturday. He was very professional, a good driver and a great host for the day. He knew all the places to go, but he made a point to listen to where we wanted to go and accommodated our requests. Azhar had great knowledge on the history of the places we visited, and educated us on the various temples, shrines, buildings and ancient trees. He knew best spots to take us to get amazing photos. He also made a point to make sure we had sufficient stops for coffee, bathroom breaks, lunch etc. We would highly recommend this tour and Azhar, as he was an excellent host.

We were picked up at our hotel in Asakusa and visited the Mt. Fuji area. We visited several Shinto shrines as well as the ice cave and two lakes during the off season. Our driver Harry was punctual and knowledgeable and made great recommendations during our visit.
