Travel in a comfortable minivan from the French Quarter through the Treme and along the historic mansion lined Esplanade Ave to the Bayou St. John neighborhood where we will trace an ancient portage road used by natives for thousands of years, and discover the very origins of why this site was selected by the French to build the city of New Orleans!
Along the way we will stop at an old cemetery where we just might encounter some restless spirits! We'll then travel through the Bayou St. John neighborhood and see the oldest house in New Orleans and the bayou that made the city possible! We'll visit the very spot Voodoo Queen Marie Laveau once held her rituals, before going to City Park to see some of the oldest oak trees in the city. In City Park we'll stop and get some beignets at Cafe Du Monde! Then we'll stop in a nature reserve and look for alligators and exotic birds before traveling to the lakefront and the ruins of a 300 year old French fort!

We spent the afternoon exploring New Orleans’ gorgeous Garden District—with a perfectly spooky Halloween twist! Brian, our guide, kept us laughing the whole time while sharing all the fascinating stories behind those jaw-dropping historic homes. The best part? We toured in comfort from his cozy van—no marathon walking required. And because Brian knows how to deliver, he made sure we didn’t miss a single Halloween-decked mansion, even stopping so we could hop out and grab some great shots. As a travel advisor, I can’t wait to recommend his tours to my clients heading to the Crescent City—this one’s an absolute treat!

Loved the tour! It was very personalized. The focus was largely on homes in the Garden District. However, other locations were also highlighted and discussed along the way. We traveled in a nice, air conditioned van with auto open/close back doors and windows that would roll down--for taking pictures. Our tour guide, Brian, has wonderful enthusiasm, a great sense of humor, as well as a love of NOLA history. So, he was able to talk not only about the homes that we saw but also about the relevant economic, political and social climates within which the homes were built. As we traveled around the Garden District, we were able to stop and get out of the car if we wanted to spend a little extra time discussing a location or getting additional pictures. Would highly recommend this adventure to others!

This was such an awesome tour! We learned so much about the history and lore of the Garden District and the city of New Orleans. We absolutely loved how he personalized the conversations to our interests and answered all of our questions. His love of nature and knowledge about the local flora and fauna was educational and enjoyable. This tour was certainly the highlight of our visit to New Orleans.

Amazing time touring the garden district with our extremely knowledgeable host. Ease of pick up and drop off and tour itself in an air conditioned vehicle was a real treat. We enjoyed every stop and photo opportunity. Personal stories and antidotes were so much fun to hear and a highlight for us was visiting the turtles in Audubon Park !! Glorious to see all the turtles come around for a rolled oat treat! We highly recommend The New Orleans Lifestyle host , his tours and his informative social media presence for all things New Orleans / Louisiana. We can’t wait to take another tour soon 🐢🐊⚜️

He provided a rich, engaging and intimate experience that I can’t imagine doing New Orleans without. Highly recommend!
