The experience is a reminder that many men and women gave the ultimate sacrifice to maintain freedom for all future generations. Our guide, who is a military officer provided a unique understanding of the size, complexity and strategy of the invasion along with information for all areas we visited. The American Cemetery is beautiful and a great tribute to those who died there.

Our guide was so so. He didn’t do a good job of setting the stage with background information so we could easily follow the history. Also, he ripped into three different travelers outside our group. One was a French vet who set his hat and coat on the base of a flagpole. His actions were over the top. Finally, it was difficult to hear him without earphones in the large group of roughly 20 people. If I was to do it again I would definitely sign up with a group that offered headphones. The upside, once you get off the highway the countryside is beautiful and the villages are quaint. The beaches and cemetery create a sense of reverence and thankfulness for those who served. Note: Plan on a three hour bus ride to get from Paris to Normandy.

Visited Normandy & the landing beaches. It was wonderful but of course, historical & sad. Our tour guide, Voltron, knew the history, was very interesting and an A-1 guide.
