Musee d'Orsay
Paris’ other museum, the Musée d’Orsay, is the perfect complement to the Louvre. With your private guide, begin your tour through this converted Beaux-Arts train station with skip-the-line admission. Inside, explore the artistic movements that led up to Impressionism and its colorful works. See Manet’s scandalous Luncheon on the Grass and Renoir’s Dance at Le Moulin de la Galette. Discuss with your guide the artists who preceded the Impressionists, like Millet and 'the Gleaners,' as well as those who followed, such as Post-Impressionist artist Van Gogh, whose Bedroom in Arles is on display. And, of course, check out works by the father of Impressionism himself, Claude Monet, including his famous poppies. Learn about the art evolution and personalities that went into creating the Impressionist movement, and understand why these seemingly simple works were so revolutionary at the time. By the end of your tour, you'll have learned about techniques used by the artists, seen both the highlights and lesser-known gems of the Orsay, and admired the beautiful architecture of the museum itself.

Marcel did such a great job navigating us through the art (and the people). He was very knowledgeable and we learned so much. Thanks to his tour I will view impressionist art in the context of its evolution from this point forward. Very engaging and worth while!

It’s terribly expensive. Guide was well versed in history but not art. Not good. I never paid so much for so little back on a Viator tour and I have been on a lot. Guide was too inexperienced and went too fast. Did not ask for questions and frankly seemed pissed off and defensive when I asked questions.

Comprehensive historical presentation. Delightful and very knowledgeable guide. I left my cane in the taxi and Nancy got me a portable chair that was a lifesaver. She took care of everything we needed and explained everything clearly. She is a star. The museum was beautiful—an old train station so well worth seeing. There’s even a coffee shop on the 4th floor. A good representation of major artists.

Paloma P by far the best tour guide I have used, not just in Paris, which this trip I have used 4, but anywhere in the word I have traveled. She was professional, informative, organized, personable and engaging. She didn’t just do a canned talk, she spoke with us, not at us. I couldn’t have spent the day a better way.
