We are Matenro Drift Racing OG drift team from Tokyo, Japan.

The activity is a completely private lesson and offers the opportunity to actually drive a JDM drift car, with a professional OG teacher for beginners and intermediate experience drivers. We also have a replica undercover police vehicle (Nissan Skyline G35) so we can give you the feel of an actual police chase at the end of the session!

For beginners we will teach you to do a proper donut and if you master that, we will move on to a figure 8. For intermediate drivers, we will teach you more skills using e-brakes and more higher gear changing.

You will either be driving a Nissan 350Z, Mazda MX-5 Miyata NB, Mazda RX-8, or Nissan 180SX. The cars and teachers will vary according to the day.

What To Expect

We are Matenro Drift Racing OG drift team from Tokyo, Japan. The activity is a completely private lesson and offers the opportunity to actually drive a JDM drift car, with a professional teacher for beginners and intermediate experience drivers. Our teachers have immense background in the streets and professional scenes in Japan. Our private lessons are 3 hours long so you will have enough time to learn the basic skills from donuts to figure 8s. We will provide you with a helmet and gloves so no extra safety equipment is necessary. For beginners we will teach you to do a proper donut and if you master that, we will move on to a figure 8. For intermediate drivers, we will teach you more skills using e-brakes and more higher gear changing. You will either be driving a Nissan 350Z, Mazda MX-5 Miyata NB, Mazda RX-8, or Nissan 180SX. I had an amazing time at Matenro Drift! From start to finish, the entire experience was seamless and exciting. Takeshi was fantastic - keeping me informed throughout the entire process, answering all my questions, and made everything super easy. He even picked me up and dropped me off at my hotel, which made the day completely stress-free. The drift lesson itself was unreal. My instructor, Ross, was extremely skilled and an excellent coach, and the lesson was tailored to my ability - the session is based on skill level, helping you to progress quickly while still feeling comfortable and in control. His guidance really helped me understand the techniques and build confidence and skill with every go. I had an awesome time and would absolutely recommend this to anyone considering it! I’m already looking forward to coming back for another session. A must-do for any motorsport or drift enthusiast!

We we're picked up in our hotel and brought to the track. After a short drive our lesson started. Over the next hours, we'd learn the basics of drifting. The instructors we're great and knowledgable. If you're any bit interested in cars, this is a great experience.

I really can’t say enough about Matenro Racing. Takeshi is absolutely awesome! I signed up for the drift lessons and he told me about the other experiences he offered like going to Mt Fuji speedway and driving the Supra around the track, and gave me a discount for booking both!! I couldn’t be more grateful for his services. Driving around the track at Mt. Fuji was absolutely surreal and one of his drivers named Toshi made the experience so memorable and fun!! And don’t get me started on how awesome the drifting lessons were. It was absolutely next level. Russ and Scott were some of the instructors and they were so fun to work with and learn from! I left that day feeling like a drift master lol!! All in all it was so worth it for all of Takeshi’s services. He is such a nice guy and really genuinely wants to see you have a great time with these experiences. He makes you feel like family!! And his police Skyline is awesome too LOL!

Did not know about this activity until my aussie friend came and introduce to me. Had the best time of my life. The best part is that it was booked at the last minute and Takeshi managed to squeeze his holiday and organised one for us. We have the whole place for ourselves and the price is as published. Our instructor, Ross was amazing guy. He show is the real drifting skill. The western way of using brake stick but this is a proper Japanese OG drifting way. Great experience. I shared this with my work colleague and organised another one which I will review more

This was by far our favorite experience that we booked while in Tokyo. Takeshi, Ross, and Saka San are pure professionals and make this an unforgettable experience. The pictures, videos, memories, and stories will last a life time. Imagine being taught how to drift, by professionals, in Tokyo, with everything taken care of in advance by Matenro. For quick reference, here's what you can expect: - Takeshi will pick you up from your hotel - don't worry about booking travel - Show up at a literal drift playground and learn to drift cars like a Mazda MX5 and Nissan Z Fair Lady - Language barriers don't exist - Takeshi speaks perfect English so if you're from the US, like us, and speak very little Japenese, have no fear! - Immediately start driving as soon as you get there. - these are right hand drive manual transmission cars. I haven't driven a manual in almost 20 years and only stalled maybe 3-4 times in a 4 hour lesson. - Aside from the fun of learning how to drift, the videos and pictures we shared with our family had their jaws hitting the floor - Ross and Saka San are pro drivers and teachers. They will ensure that you walk away knowing how to drift and will be your biggest fans once you get it. - After the lesson and driving, Takeshi drives you back to your hotel. You literally just have to show up and have a good time - the guys at Matenro take care of everything else. Overall - this is the Tokyo experience you want. Trust me, it's worth every penny!
