What To Expect
Pingvellir National Park
Our first stop is at Þingvellir, the location of the first Icelandic parliament. The first parliament was established there in 930 AD and it is, therefore, the oldest parliament in Europe. Besides the rich history of the area you can also see the Mid-Atlantic ridge. The ridge splits the continent of Europe from North America. If you stand on the west side of the ridge you are geographically speaking in North America, and on the east side you are geographically in Europe.

After that, we stop at Geysir. This "water puddle" gives its name to all the other Geysers in the world. Strokkur, Geysir’s little brother, is still active today and it erupts every 5-8 minutes and it is truly a spectacle.

From the moment he picked us up at the hotel throughout all our stops he shared his extensive knowledge of his country as well as his personal experiences. 5.00My wife and I, along with two other couples, recently spent a day visiting the sites on a private Golden Circle tour, operated by Holiday Tours. Our experience was outstanding. The six of us and our guide, Smari, travelled in a comfortable seven seat Mercedes SUV. Smari, was perfect for our group – he was very friendly, very knowledgeable, and a great communicator. From our conversations, Smari suggested a few alterations / additions to the basic itinerary which we had requested after researching some travel sources. His suggestions were spot-on excellent for our group. I will note that Holiday Tours’ rate for our private tour was significantly less that the rates quoted by several other tour operators. While Holiday may not be the first operator that pops up when you start researching options, it would certainly be worth the time to connect with Holiday before finalizing your bookings. In short, our group highly recommends Holiday Tours for an excellent Golden Circle experience.

5.00Smari was our most excellent guide today and he was awesome. Great personality and really intuitive to what we wanted to do and see. We enjoyed the Golden Circle and really enjoyed finishing it off with a great meal at Frioheimar Tomato Farm. If you go, make sure to ask for Smari!
