Located along the Sea of Japan in northern Kyoto Prefecture, Amanohashidate and Ine are two breathtaking destinations that blend natural beauty with traditional charm. Far from the bustling cities, they offer a peaceful and picturesque escape.
Amanohashidate, one of Japan’s top three scenic views, is a 3.6 km pine-covered sandbar across Miyazu Bay. From Kasamatsu Park, it looks like a “bridge to heaven” or a flying dragon when viewed upside down.
Just 30 minutes away lies Ine, a peaceful fishing village known for its 230 funaya—boathouses with boat garages below and homes above. Take a boat ride to see them up close and enjoy fresh seafood.
Together, Amanohashidate and Ine offer a perfect mix of grandeur and tranquility in northern Kyoto.

Amanohashidate
Amanohashidate, which is known as one of the three most scenic spots in Japan. The 3.8 km long white sand beach land bridge is covered with more than 8,000 dark green pine trees, and there is a quiet shrine among them. The adjacent Kasamatsu Park and Amanohashidate Viewland can also overlook the beautiful scenery of the entire Amanohashidate. You can walk into this land bridge, worship the shrine. Also you could get a boat cruise (personal expense) . Even you can go to the View land (personal expense) to overlook the great attraction.

We didn’t have great weather but appreciated the chance to see this area of Japan/Kyoto. Note- it is pretty quiet (or maybe that was due to weather) and the fishing village doesn’t have a lot to do other than the boat trips. The area is gorgeous and we had a great lunch at a small sushi restaurant. Glad I went but you should know the area is very low key.
