During the peak travel season(May 1 -7) and (October 1-7), Mutianyu Great Wall may be swapped to other parts of Great Wall, because Mutianyu Great Wall will be super crowded during the festivals.

What To Expect

Mutianyu Great Wall

Your English-speaking guide will meet you in your hotel lobby at 8:00 AM for a comfortable private drive to Mutianyu Great Wall (approximately 1.5 hours). Mutianyu is one of the most scenic and best-preserved sections of the Great Wall, far less crowded than Badaling, giving you the freedom to explore at your own pace. Hike along a 700-meter stretch of wall featuring 22 historic watchtowers, with inclines reaching up to 140 meters. Your guide will bring the wall's fascinating history to life — explaining how this section was rebuilt during the Ming Dynasty, the military strategy behind its design, and the significance of each watchtower. You can walk up via the stone steps or take the cable car (own expense, recommended). For the adventurous, the famous toboggan ride back down is a thrilling highlight not to be missed!

After a satisfying traditional Chinese lunch at a local restaurant, head to Beijing's iconic 2008 Olympic Park — one of the most celebrated modern landmarks in the world. Admire the stunning architecture of the Bird's Nest (National Stadium), whose intricate steel lattice design made it one of the most talked-about structures of its generation. See the breathtaking Water Cube (National Aquatics Center), famous for its striking blue bubble-like exterior that lit up the world during the 2008 Olympic swimming and diving competitions. Dean was the ideal guide. He answered all of our questions and was very patient with our family. He spoke great English and we felt very comfortable on the tour. Our driver was a doll, always smiling and a wonderful companion. The private car was very helpful. I recommend the toboggan from the wall!

During my two weeks trip in China this tour was definitely the most inspiring. Our guide, Dean, was the most enthusiastic guide I have ever had. Passioned about his work, Beijing, the Great Wall, he offered us a wonderful day and tour. Plus, I contacted him on the same evening to help us find a good bar in Beijing, he answered immediately and even came to meet us and helped us find a taxi at the end of the evening!
So A for the guide.

About the tour itself it was a pleasure climbing the Great Wall under the sun. Advise: prepare a lot of water! Going on an adventure in the wild part of the wall was a ton of fun but remains quit of a challenge if you're not a sport person.

The Olympic sites were interesting to see but added no big thing to the tour.

At the end of the day, a must do if you happen to visit Beijing. Once again: I highly recommend Dean as a Tour Guide!

Our tour was fantastic! Kris was extremely knowledgeable of both the subject of the tour wall/Olympic sites/etc, but educated our group on the culture of China! We were impressed with both her storytelling style and personal accessibility. She was very easy to talk to and engaged us throughout the day.

We visited China and used Viator to schedule a tour to The Great Wall in Beijing as well as 2 Olympic sites. Cris was our guide and she did an outstanding job. She communicated with us to confirm the details prior to the tour and phones is one she arrived the hotel to tell us she was there and how to identify her. In addition to the scheduled attractions Cris was also able to give us a kind of insider's view of the city and the country since she is a native Chinese. Her guidance along the Great Wall was fantastic because of her knowledge of its history. The tour included lunch at a nice restaurant. She adjusted the order to accommodate some food allergies but still got us a nice blend of local cuisine to enjoy. The tour with Cris was a wonderful experience which I would highly recommend!

Mr.Nee's didn’t say much but i think that was because he had limited English.
