Northern Lights are a must see during your holiday in Iceland! There is no better way to admire the show in private with no crowds around and private guide to answer all of your questions!
Our guides are highly experienced when it comes to reading the weather conditions and finding the right spot so you can be sure your chances to see the lights are maximal. Our tour is not only about finding the lights, we will also share with you Icelandic traditions and culture. Your guide will explain to you the science, old beliefs and folklore surrounding the phenomenon. To complete your Icelandic experience you will have a chance to try traditional pastry and liquor Brennivín which is sometimes called Black Death. We will also make sure that you keep warm during the hunt with blankets and hot chocolate. We provide you with warm and cozy blankets and homemade hot chocolate.

What To Expect

What’s the process? Your tour will start with pick-up directly from your accommodation in Reykjavík. Once we are out of the city and away from light pollution our guide will find a good spot to jump out of the car, prepare cameras and let the hunt begin. Our guides can assist you with the camera setting in case you need help. Our guides are experts in reading the weather forecast so they will know exactly where to take you to maximize your chances of experiencing this amazing phenomenon. Based on the forecast, we always make the decision before 18:00, if we are heading out during the evening or not. Please note that this tour is heavily dependent on the weather. If your tour is canceled, you can reschedule for a different day (subject to availability) or receive a full refund. In case of an unsuccessful tour, you can join our standard minibus tour free of charge (subject to availability).

5.00The entire experience was great! The team had setup the van with booster seats for the kids, which was very appreciated. We were then offered treats and refreshments to make our trip comfortable. On the drive out to the first observation area, our guide Rimas explained the science behind the northern lights, which was very informative. Once we got to the first area, we were able to see the lights. We stayed at that location for a while taking pictures, videos, and just observing the splendor of the northern lights . Once the cloud cover moved in, we hopped in the van and drove to the second observation spot. Once there, we were treated to the single most spectacular sight I have seen in my life. The sky just exploded with a radiant green light show. Rimas was phenomenal from taking pictures of us to pouring hot cocoa for the kids. It was a truly beautiful, magical, emotional experience.

5.00We were able to experience the private Northern Lights tour with Happy Holidays, and who knew waiting patiently for the Aurora activity to appear could be so fun! Our guide made the trip a great time and made sure that everyone was able to take photos with the right settings.

5.00Unforgettable night! We were not optimistic that we would get to see the lights. Thankfully, we were wrong. Our tour guide Oli was amazing. He seemed just as excited as us. He was very knowledgeable and knew right where to go to see the best views. We stopped at two locations to see spectacular Northern lights. I also liked that they would cancel the tour if they thought the likelihood of seeing the lights was very low. Highly recommend!

5.00We were picked up on time by our guide for the night and completed a couple of pick ups before going out on the hunt for the lights. During the drive our guide shared his knowledge of the aurora and what the plan for evening would be. We spent until 02:00 hunting for them and we’re luckily enough to see a glimpse near the end of our tour. Our guide was absolutely amazing and his enthusiasm to share the lights with us was such a delight to see as his passion was lovely to see. He managed to give me the opportunity to propose under a star surrounded by the green glow of the lights, what more could we have asked for!
