Seljalandsfoss is a waterfall in Iceland. Seljalandsfoss is located in the South Region in Iceland right by Route 1 and the road that leads to Þórsmörk Road 249. The waterfall drops 60 m and is part of the Seljalands River that has its origin in the volcano glacier Eyjafjallajökull.
Stakkholtsgjá is what Lord of the Rings movies are made of. It has 100m-deep, ancient moss-covered walls and a dramatic twisting gorge with a hidden waterfall. Walk along the riverbed inside the canyon, when it splits in two veer left down a narrower canyon.
Thórsmörk is a mountain ridge in Iceland that was named after the Norse god Thor. It is situated in the south of Iceland between the glaciers Tindfjallajökull and Eyjafjallajökull.
Not far from Seljalandsfoss, on the road to Þórsmörk (4WD required), hides one of the most thrilling and adventurous scrambles to a waterfall along a river and through an ancient moss-covered canyon.

What To Expect
Seljalandsfoss waterfall
The beautiful, 60 meters tall Seljalandsfoss is one of the most popular waterfalls in Iceland and it’s one of Iceland’s most photographed natural wonders.
Stakkholtsgja is an up to 100 meters deep and 2 kilometers long canyon in South Iceland. The canyon is located near the entrance to Thorsmork. It has a narrow riverbed and ends in a beautiful waterfall. Stakkholtsgjá Canyon inside Þórsmörk was the filming location used for the famous Wight ambush scene of Game of Thrones Season 7, Episode 6.

5.00This tour is a most! We had a great experience from beginning to end! Communication was excellent. The tour operator reached out to make sure we had located our tour guide, Hordur. Can't say enough great things about Hordur! He customized the tour to meet our needs and comfort and is very knowledgeable! Wonderful experience with some great laughs. He took us to some amazing sites that we would not have seen had we not chosen his tour with the use of an off road vehicle. The super jeep was very comfortable and cool! I definitely recommend this tour! Wonderful experience! Hordur truly cared and was a lot of fun to be with!

5.00The scenery was breathtaking and I am so grateful that we had a chance to take a hike and have lunch at a beautiful wooded spot with lots of redwing visiting us. The river crossings were fun and Stakkholtsgja beautiful. Visiting Gigajokull gives you a real sent of the power of the 2010 eruption. Or guide Oskar was so knowledgeable and friendly. I really appreciated having his local insight into life in Iceland and it was obvious how much he loves the land.

5.00The tour was very fun and interesting. Our tour guide Thor was very friendly and could tell us fun facts about iceland during the tour. During the tour we first had a quat tour and then with the super jeep along Golden Circle. We got enough time at each stop which was very nice.

5.00This tour is a must do when in Iceland. The views are incredible, the hikes are easy to do, and you will get beautiful pictures. Our guide Einar was very thoughtful and a very good driver, knew the terrain, answered all our questions. My kids loved it, my wife and I loved it. Highly recommend.

5.00We had a wonderful tour with Thor to the Valley of Thor on a beautifully sunny day. We had rented a Tesla to drive around Iceland, so it was pretty awesome to be able to go off the beaten track in the super jeep. We got to see beautiful views of glaciers, had a lovely little picnic and a hike in Thormsmork and ended our day with a visit to the Stakkholtsgjá Canyon and the beautiful waterfall that can be found at the end of the canyon. Thor was our guide and he was both informative and funny. My 10-year old loved listening to his stories and he made all of us feel comfortable right away. A few other (hopefully helpful) details: 1) Lunch was not included. There's a little place in Thormsmork where I think you can stop to get soup and bread (I think?) but we ended up picking up sandwiches and snacks at Kronan the night before and brought our own food with us. There are bathrooms at Thormsmork. 2) We had a 10 year old and a 1.5 year old. We transferred the car seat from our regular car to the super jeep for the baby. 3) This Private Super Jeep Tour was included as part of the self-drive tour package that we had Activity Iceland plan for us. There doesn't seem to be a place to write a review for that, but I would strongly recommend Anna and Activity Iceland for planning visits!
