You will put on the traditional samurai outfit and wield a katana just like a real samurai. This is the only samurai sword experience in Kyoto where you would feel like a real samurai and have a real hands on sword experience different from some simple costume play. Many people come to Japan to learn about the history of samurai and fulfill their childhood dream of being a samurai and this is it. The lesson includes hakama wearing, wearing samurai armor and samurai helmet and posing in front of several samurai-theme backgrounds.

！Children under 3 can not enter the samurai venue.

！You can reserve maximum 4 people from Viator however we accept any other booking site and there will be more participants in your experience (About 12-14 guests)

Tepe was a great tour guide, really enjoyed finding out so much about Japan history and the roles Samouraï played. Throwing the shuriken at the end was also super entertaining, the kids loved it. Definitely recommend.

Aya and Kiryu were amazing and did a great job teaching us can’t wait to come back!! This was a wonderful time for family and kids I will bring my children back for this experience.

Although samurai sword experience with Rilku was so great, if you want to buy swords afterwards and are from out of country, their website lies and they will not ship. This is after asking 3 different workers who all had different answers. Also, the experience ran 1 hour late and you had to walk by yourselves for 10 minutes to a different area for second part of the experience. So although fun, it is not efficiently run. You will also spend 30 minutes watching each other get dressed in costumes.

There was a wonderful guide with many interactive options, history and armour. You even can throw a shuriken and wear some clothes for photos.

This was amazing. Ren was great, we had a good time and we learned a lot. We took a lot of pictures and videos. You definitely should do this with family and freinds.
