What To Expect

1

Bunratty Castle and Folk Park

After arriving to Limerick, we head out to Bunratty Castle. The castle was completed in 1425 and, after many years of neglect, has been restored to its former glory. There is a folk park here and many of the buildings – including the village – were dismantled at various locations in the region and rebuilt, brick by brick, at their present location.

On June 7,we joined this Railtours Ireland offering. We boarded the train easily in Dublin and traveled comfortably to Limerick. We transferred to a bus. I was particularly interested in the drive through Limerick as I am a fan of author, Frank McClure who grew up there and our guide pointed out locales. The bus continued on to Bunratty Castle and an array of charming historical type buildings called the Folk Park. It was all very interesting. We stopped at a pub for a delicious lunch (paid for on our own). We continued on to the Cliffs of Moher which were impressive. It also has a very modern commercial part. We boarded the bus again and made a short stop at the Burren National Park, an amazing vast landscape. We continued on to Galway. We were given free time there (we went to a nice pub for supper). We were guided back on the train and rode back to Dublin. It was a lovely, educational day.

Good experience. Super easy to navigate. Castle was great, cliffs were spectacular. Had lunch and dinner in neat little pubs - we both split the G (look that one up).

The tour is so well organized! Andrew was our guide and he was a wealth of information and excellent storyteller, too. I felt we got to experience so much on this tour. I just wish we had more time. I was traveling with a group of 17 and it was easy. I highly recommend and if I ever go back will do this tour again.

Very nice experience. The guy (Andrew) in charge of the group was very knowledgeable of the history of the places. I totally recommend it.

Andrew our tour guide was amazing and very knowledgeable. The whole day was well planned out. If you have the opportunity to do this you won’t be disappointed. I suggest to request Andrew for his wit and personality. We would definitely do this tour again.
