  We were a bit apprenhensive about booking this tour due to the unfair reviews, however we found it was worth it for the amount we paid. We did the 3d 2n tour and really enjoyed it. A special mention to the staff, they worked very hard to ensure that the stay was enjoyable. In particular, Sebastian (Quoc) was very friendly and helpful. The tour guides, Sunday and Man were great. Sunday even did a performance on the second night which was a nice touch, he was very interactive and accommodating. The activities were fun, we got to see a lot of beautiful scenery. We even got to visit the fishing village which was very interesting. Yes, the boat could do with some modernisation, but again, it was worth the cost. Would recommend!

  Pros: EXCELLENT staff. Very attentive to your needs and very kind people. Cons: Lots of crowded destinations on the bay. Swan did a good job of getting us there first, but towards the end of each experience, people from 4-5 other cruises showed up and it got crowded. 3 day cruise wasn’t worth it- felt like 2 day 1 itineraries in a row with different swimming spots. The boat allows smoking up top so if you don’t smoke it’s a 50/50 shot if you’ll be able to actually enjoy the fresh air. The food was bland and not very representative of the incredible cuisine Vietnam touts. The Lots of overcooked chicken, over sweetened sauces, and few identifiably Vietnamese dishes. (Note: I am an avid home chef so I may be more judgemental of what is put in front of me). If you are a tourist, this works great. If you’re a traveler, grab a day boat from Cat Ba and save your other 2 days for different experiences.

  Bai Tu Long bay is very beautiful, and less crowded than Ha Long Bay, indeed. Staying for two nights it meant that we took a day-cruise boat on the second day and cruised in Ha Long bay as well, so we say everything, which was amazing! The cruise staff and hosts, as well as the guides are truly amazing and very helpful! This was supposed to be a luxury cruise (this is what we paid for, but the boat is rather old and the room did feel basic, not luxury. They also did several course lunches and dinners, which has a rather basic quality - focusing on less but more on quality would be the best.
