Our guide was amazing. Pointing out all of the wildlife and ensuring everyone on the boat had a good look and could take pictures.

We had a wonderful tour. Our guide Ivan made the experience delightful. Transfer to the boat was smooth. Remember to wear sandals, not sneakers as you have to wade through the water to get to the boat.

Be prepared to step in shallow water when entering or leaving the boat. Really good tour, though, seeing crocodiles, howler monkeys, raccoons, crabs and several interesting birds.

It was well worth it. We saw a variety of birds as as well as crocodiles crabs, large lizards, howler, monkeys, and more. Our boat driver and guide were both very knowledgeable and friendly. There are no restrooms once you leave on the boat, until you return, in case that is important to you. I would also wear a secure water sandal or similar as your shoes may get both wet and potentially somewhat muddy when you walk to see the monkeys if you need to cross a stream area.

This was a very enjoyable tour. We sat in a boat as the tour guide explained about the river and the wildlife. The tour guide pointed out a couple of crocodiles, several different bird species and raccoons in trees along the river. While on the tour guide we heard through the tour guide‘s radio another tour guide say “monkeys, monkeys, monkeys“ a couple of times. The tour guide knew exactly where that was and in 10-15 minutes the tour guide beached the boat and we were watching monkeys in the trees. After the monkeys the tour guide offered water, iced tea and beer and cut up a pineapple for everyone

A really nice guide, we had a lot of fun. He knows every bird. We see 3 crocodiles and monkeys, he had a lot of experience. The guides have good connections and help each other to find the animals

Re: Manglar (Tamarindo Estuary) tour, 11/11/25, 11 am We were put on a small fisherman's boat with a total of 22 adults, 60% of them being men in their prime (healthy, probably worked out every day), with about 85% of them seated in the back half of the boat, and all at the start of low tide. We got stuck SEVERAL times. The engine on the boat started to overheat and had to be shut off. Finally we could not make it back to the starting point due to all of the above, and we were asked to walk 3/4 of a mile through wetland, water, and rock formations back to the transport. What was supposed to be a two hour deal became a bit over 3 hours and a whole lot of wet gym shoes. Drivers did the best they could with the demands of their boss back at the office, which they called a few times. Very unorganized and incapable of performing a bit of math to calculate the limits of such a small boat during low tide. Not worth the experience nor the money. My recommendation: Find another vendor.

Rode on Tuesday, 11th of November 2025. The “English” tour is barely English. The two operators speak to themselves in Spanish the entire time. If a guest speaks in Spanish, the tour operators answer in Spanish and doesn’t tell others what they just said. We didn’t see anything except the same 3 birds every time and one crocodile. It seemed like it was their first time riding in the estuary, we constantly got stuck and were told the drop off to see the monkeys was too muddy, so we missed that important part of the tour. Of course, no reimbursement or partial reimbursement. Tour should have been cancelled if we couldn’t see the monkeys or have a good ride, but it was kept on despite the fact that the estuary water level was clearly too low for a flat bottom boat with 6000lbs of human in it. Poor experience, and I’m not one to complain or give bad ratings.
