The lesson was phenomenal, they really went into the detail and history about Japanese style swords and bows to give us an understanding of the history. We were really able to get hands on with the bow and Katana and experience what it is like to shoot/swing one. They were always helpful in answering questions any of us had. We really felt like samurai with the clothes they provided for the lesson and we all thoroughly enjoyed it, the lesson was far beyond what we were expecting and worth every Yen

The favorite and most memorable part of our Japan trip! We had adult children as well as skeptical teens in our group, and everyone loved this experience. It was pricey but worth it. The instructor was incredibly professional and provided a rare in-depth perspective of the historical samurai tradition and culture, in addition to expert instruction for handling the sword and bow and attention to necessary safety details. He also made sure we got great photos and videos. I was unsure about dressing in the samurai garb at first, but it made for such a cool experience and education, and later I recognized some of those same traditions carried into modern culture as we traveled around Japan afterward. We have been to Japan many times and this is definitely the top of our experiences. I can’t think of a better way to immerse in Japan’s history and culture.

Wow! What a once in a lifetime experience, This is NOT a TOURIST gimmick - it is an amazing immersion for those interested in Japanese history and tradition. Yoshioki San is a Samurai descendant and a kick ass Master in the art of Bizen- Kai swordsmanship and Yabusame Archery. Google his target perfect archery, and swordsman ship on horseback (no reins, with moving targets). This is a working Dojo and the training given is disciplined . The session is very hands on, including 1:1 sparring with the Master and feedback on your technique. (Which was very generous and humorous and helpful 🤣) Really informative and lots of fun! Including traditional costume for practice, photos and a Dojo memento An absolute highlight of my time in Japan . Thankyou Sensei Yoshioki San !

I can not speak enough praise for this class. Wow. I took this class as a solo female traveler. I was staying in the Shibuya area. While this class is a little outside of the city, it is incredibly easy to get to and worth it. The instructor was very kind, welcoming and patient. He covered so much- the history of samurau, the different types of swords, technique for swinging the swords, archery, etc. He even gave us each a certificate at the end of the lesson with our names handwritten with ink in Japanese. I learned so much and had such a fun time. This was something I have always wanted to learn how to do and taking this lesson has ignited a desire to potentially explore it further if it is accessible to me. The instructor has so much knowledge and passion for the art. He also spoke great English and was very easy to understand and follow. You will not regret taking this class- it is worth every penny. I would do it on a regular basis to learn further if I lived nearby.

I traveled from Tokyo Daiba, and it took me about 1.5 hours to reach the dojo, but it was absolutely worth it! I arrived early and was warmly welcomed by the master. I even had the chance to watch one of his students practicing, which added a special touch before starting. The duel experience with practice swords was very fun, especially when I had the chance to spar with the master himself. No where to run! 😂 He was kind, patient, and always willing to answer any questions. I’m not someone who usually does sports, and now in my 50s, I truly appreciated every moment of the different practices. 🙏 Thanks to Master Yoshioki Sumida for the great experience. Real dojo. Real experience. A true master. Highly recommended. Enjoy your trip in Japan! Orlando
