Northern Lights in Focus is a small-group journey into the Arctic night, guided by people who live here and know how to read it.
We leave the city behind and head into the wilderness, following weather forecasts, local knowledge, and real-time conditions to find the best possible place to experience the Northern Lights. There is no fixed route — every chase is shaped by clouds, light, and the Arctic itself.
To keep you warm, insulated winter overalls are provided. During the night, we gather around a small campfire to enjoy a homemade meal, hot drinks, and something sweet.
When the aurora appears, your guide — also a photographer — will take portraits of you beneath the lights. These photos are included and shared with you after the tour.
Whether the lights are strong or subtle, this is about sharing a real Arctic night together!

I'm writing this review now as unfortunately Blue Puffin just cancelled our trip that was planned for next month Mar 26. I can only see good reviews for this company that seems to deliver a good service hence why we picked them. So it's a shame that I'm writing a poor review fro them, but I strongly believe it's worth letting other people know that you might be let down the same as Blue Puffin let my wife and I down within a few weeks of our planned visit. Sure they offered alternative dates, but who doesn't plan a full itinerary when they're visiting a place like Tromso, so obviously the alternative dates were no good to us. Good luck to anyone who wishes to book with Blue Puffin in the future, hopefully they don't let you down! Point to note; on their Tripadvisor booking schedule there's 3 random days that are not available, one of those was ours, yet all he other days in Mar are available and there appears to be no availability from the start of Apr onwards.

Joan and Majiec did such an amazing job for us! We had an incredible experience, and they just kept finding more great places to view the aurora. Joan took photos any time we stopped, which was really nice. His photos are professional quality, and so much better than what you can get with just an iphone. He took photos of anyone who wanted them, but also photos of just the lights for us to download after we got home. Joan is very knowledgeable and friendly, and has a science background, and he kept us entertained. We also really enjoyed the small size of our group, which enabled everyone to get out quickly if we needed to, to see the ever changing display. The bus was very nice and comfortable. The vegetable soup and warm juice were tasty, and everyone enjoyed the cookies. Highly recommend this tour!

A long night but filled with such fun, positivity and enthusiasm. Great group. Lots of photos. Tasty home cooked food. Knowledgeable guide who gave us so much information - thank you Linda. Great confident driver who worked really well with Linda. And we saw the lights in about 4 or 5 different locations thanks to Linda’s persistence and excitement! We loved it!

Hands up for the team! Thanks for the amazing experience! Just saw the photos and turned out amazing, and its great that are included in the price! Loved the experience of Northen Ligths and Sami reeinder´s with Luna, Karel and Adam! All of them were incredible! Loved Luna´s explanations about the Sami and Karel's insights about the land, auroras and geographic history. All the details were carefully thought, the booking, the call to us to let them know the snow suit sizes, the soup and the juice while waiting for the aurora, the transport and the spot! Thanks again for everything! Really Recomend this experience!

We had a fantastic Northern Lights trip from Tromsø with Blue Puffin and would definitely recommend it, small group tour def worth the extra. Linda was our guide and Maciek our driver. Everything was really well organized, with clear and quick communication both before the trip and on the day. They told us exactly where to meet, what to bring, and even asked about food allergies in advance, which was great. The group was small (about 14 people) and we traveled in a comfortable minibus. We drove out toward the Finland border chasing the Northern Lights due to lot of clouds and ended up finding them in a beautiful, clear spot by a frozen river, surrounded by snow and trees where we got to even see the lights dancing! Was amazing! After watching the lights, taking photos, enjoying the views, Linda had a fire going for us, chairs and we got to chat with others in the group, and learned a bit about the local culture, it felt very relaxed and personal. We were grateful for the thermal suits provided and felt very well prepared for the cold. They also provided warm soup, hot juice, tea, and cookies, which was really nice and helped keep everyone warm after being in the cold. We really enjoyed the banter, the shared excitement when the lights appeared, and the overall atmosphere of the group. Linda was a great guide! very friendly, easy to talk to, and excellent at getting everyone involved. She also took some really nice photos of the lights and portraits with the lights in background for us. Overall, my wife and I were very pleased, had a great time - highlight of our trip.

We had a blast and would absolutely recommend this experience. Glad we went with this tour out all the tour providers.

Nature didn't help. We barely saw a glimpse of Northern light. The guide tried very hard to find a place for us to see it through his camera. We wished it was better but how can we win the nature.

Everything went super smoothly, we were a small group of 10-15 people. We left at 17:30 on time and we drove for about 45min. We had really clear skies and the guide told us the only thing we could is to wait. We waited for about 3 hours and we got a fire, a really good soup, and some hot beverages... and when we almost gave up, the aurora came! So, just trust the guide and be patient!! We totally recommend Blue Puffin :)

Had the most wonderful time with Linda (our guide) who is very fluent in German and English. There was a REALLY low chance of catching the lights but Linda was experienced and we were so blessed to be able to watch the lights dance in the sky. This tour comes with warm soup and blueberry tea - super yummy. 10/10 recommend!
