A truly special place to experience the spirit of Japanese craftsmanship. We joined the urushi lacquer workshop and it was such a memorable time — from applying lacquer to our own cups, to taking a short tour of the studio while the pieces cured. We enjoyed wagashi and matcha served in the very cups we made. Tzofiya was a wonderful host — warm, patient, and full of knowledge about urushi and its traditions. The atmosphere was calm and inspiring, and it felt like a genuine connection to Japanese culture rather than a touristy activity. Highly recommended for anyone looking for something meaningful and authentic in Kyoto.
