We will start this tour at a place where the guillotine, a gruesome accessory of the French revolution, took its toll with thousands of victims’ severed heads. This will be the opportunity to learn and “revive” this horrendous episode of French history know as “Grand Terror”. At the end of a short informative walk following the guillotine’s bloody trail, the Grail will be the eeriest Parisian spot ever where the victims are still buried: a fairly sized private estate with a countryside touch to it that shelters an impressive old cemetery with emblazoned graves of the wealthy centuries-old nobility. There peacefully rests the heroic marquis of Lafayette, hero of the U.S. war of Independence, whose deeds influenced America's destiny. Amidst the eeriness of this place, you’ll realize how French and Americans are closely connected through each other’s past. More than getting a history course, you will truly experience a meaningful moment. Oddly, you’ll come out of it with an uplifting sense of awe, of bliss, of peacefulness!

When I think back on my trip to France, one of my first thoughts is the fantastic tour I took with Milan. I lucked out and had a private tour! I am a big history buff that did my homework before coming to France, and Milan customized the tour and was able to go more in depth than I think you would find on the average tour based on what I asked and what I already knew. His depth of knowledge was impressive. He had an answer (and a corresponding visual in his binder!) for everything. You can tell he is very passionate about history and loves sharing his knowledge with others. There were many other reasons this tour stands out as unique. This felt off the beaten path. I had the opportunity to visit Lafayette's grave. Coincidentally, on another walking tour a few days later, my tour guide asked "does anyone know where the only American flag flying during the German occupation of Paris was?" and of course, thanks to Milan, I knew the answer. The other tour guide said I was the first person in his 10 years of providing tours to know, and that just speaks to all the knowledge Milan was able to impart during our French Revolution tour. In addition, Milan took me to his small farm in the middle of Paris and let me try tomatoes, green beans, and figs! Such a memorable experience. It didn't feel like a scripted tour. It felt like 2 individuals passionate about history talking in depth about little known facts about the Revolution. I learned some SHOCKING facts from Milan. For example, did you know that the guillotine was used in France until 1977?!?! I could go on and on, but in short, I highly recommend for history lovers.

Milan gave a very informative tour! I thought it was going to be narrowly focused to Lafayette and the French Revolution, but he provided so much background and context (and fun little stories), that it really was so much more! Highly recommended!

Milan's tour was a highlight of our visit to Paris, an intimate look into the history of the city during two Revolutions. We'll never again look at Paris in the same way. Milan was an extremely well-informed, gracious, engaging and accommodating host, and we're truly grateful for the experience. We look forward to exploring more of the city with him on our next visit.

This was a highly informative and educational tour, hosted by an excellent, engaging, enthusiastic and extremely knowledgeable guide, Milan. Initially the tour focused on General Lafayette who was an absolutely key figure in the French Revolution, but who also played a major role in the US wars of Independence (George Washington virtually adopting him as a son). The tour then went on to focus on the final siting of the guillotine (eastern Paris) and, more particularly, on the 1300 victims who were killed there in the final 2 weeks of the “Terror”. Milan took us to the privately owned and maintained memorial site to the 1300 which comprises, amongst other things, the 2 mass graves used for their bodies and a chapel in which every victim’s name - and occupation - is engraved on wall-hung marble panels, which made haunting reading. It was a real honour and true privilege to have been shown these extensive preserved memorials. I would thoroughly recommend this tour as well its excellent host, Milan.

This was an educational and highly interesting trip, hosted by a very engaging, enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide, Milan. The trip initially concerned General Lafayette who played an absolutely key role in the French Revolution but who was also heavily involved in the US wars of Independence, becoming almost a son to George Washington. But then we continued to the final sighting of the guillotine during the French Revolution (to the east of Paris) and focused on the last 1300 victims who perished there in a 2 week period at the end of the so-called “Terror”. Milan took us to the privately owned and maintained memorial site to the 1300, comprising, amongst other things, the 2 mass graves and a memorial chapel in which every victim’s name is engraved on large, wall-hung marble panels. It was a real honour and privilege to be shown this memorial site. I can thoroughly recommend this trip, as well as tour guide, Milan

Milan was very accommodating in waiting for us when we were lost. It was a fabulous tour with a great deal of information. You could tell Milan really knew his history. Very delightful personality and was able to access special sites to make the historical information even more valuable. Excellent command of English as well.

This was a great experience to learn about the period of terror and the use of the guillotine. Although it is a walking tour, the terrain is mostly flat and over minimal distances. If you are an American history buff and appreciate the importance of Lafayette’s involvement in the American Revolution, then this is a perfect tour for you. Milan is extremely knowledgeable and the tour is very interactive with Q&A.
