SCAM: We bought the tickets 2 weeks ago, and 2 hours before the experience I didn’t hear nothing from the company, so I wrote them, they told they have some technical problems, and they can’t give us tickets, so basically they destroyed our plans, they could tell it at least one day before or something, so be careful, you can randomly get rejected even if you bought the tickets… they probably overbooked spaces and then think some people will not show up or something…. Wouldn’t recommend… hope I will get reimbursed for that… and it still wouldn’t be enough… they should give some kind of compensation for their mistakes, or should I say scams…

This is absolutely NOT skip the line! Everyone’s in the same line. The only people who got in without waiting are the ones who were in a guided tour group. Here’s how it works; you get in a line based on your assigned time, it goes in 30 minute increments. There is only one line. No skips. Each line has probably about 150 people, you bake in the sun with no shade while you wait for your time, then the line goes pretty quickly. You walk through another line, through security then follow the crowd until you start to see signs for the Sistine Chapel. If you keep following the signs you will get to the Sistine Chapel eventually (probably about an hour, maybe longer if you stop more than we did) and see some amazing works of art and artifacts along the way. There is no way to get to the Sistine Chapel without going through the whole museum. Think of it like going to ikea and having to go through the whole store before you can find the cash register. It was a very worthwhile way to spend 2 hours and seeing so many renowned works of art and artifacts in one place was amazing.

As other reviewers have stated, we never received our tickets. We had booked and paid in advance of our travel to Rome and were advised that our tickets would be emailed to us before our 1:30pm time slot. We walked to the Vatican from the pantheon to take in the sites and make the most of the morning. I received an email one hour before our planned tour, stating that due to a system error our tickets could not be processed. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. We were only in Rome for 4 days so had no flexibility to rearrange or rebook via another provider. Given the amount of negative reviews and disappointed travellers, this company should not be operating.

For all to be aware the Vatican Museums / Cystine Chapel experience tickets are not directly managed by Viator. As most tourists we were on a time schedule and pre booked a good month ahead to avoid the queues. The day before we were emailed due to a technical issue we might not get our tickets and would only find out up to an hour beforehand, with a suggestion to join the no ticket queue on the day. The no ticket queue as expected was way too long, we were limited for time and could not wait a further couple of hours queuing. We ended up paying a 100 euros in addition to the original Viator price for what turned out to be a great guided tour by another company. Viator apologised, refunded straight away but did send us a polite note to say it was not Viator’s fault but down to the Vatican holding back tickets for crowd management. Just wanted to share our disappointment and let everyone know the risk with this particular Viator experience.

Cancelled on me 1 hour prior to vatican tour. Had no options to get alternative tickets. Viator also did not help. Was our last day in Rome. Very disappointed overall. Would not recommend at all
