What an amazing time! Chuy was a fantastic guide and kept us safe as well as laughing the whole time. Can’t wait to go again. Every guide we encountered with Tenorio was great and they are a great company to tour with.

This was an experience of a lifetime. A thrill-seeking, edge of your seat adventure - one we will talk about for years to come. We had 12 people total, 3 boats of 3 with a guide for each of us. The guides did a great job of keeping us safe while also make it so fun and entertaining. Luis, the leader, was incredible! They allowed us to pause along the rafting to jump in a waterfall. In addition to the adventure, they provided great transportation to and from the activity as well as a homemade lunch served by our rafting guides. It was an experience we will never forget. Could not recommend this more!

Wonderful rafting on the Tenorio River. Guides Roberto and Sam made the trip fun for our friends who like to sit in the front of the boat and enjoy the ride as well as myself who likes to sit up front and dig into the rapids. I would definitely do this again!

From start to finish, we had such a fantastic time on our white water rafting trip with Xplore Costa Rica! Eugene was our driver and was so kind and accommodating. We stayed at the Westin in Playa Conchal, which made the trip to the Tenorio River over 2 hours. Eugene made a stop in Libera on the way so we could use the bathrooms, grab coffee and snacks and take a few minutes to be out of the van. Throughout the drive (to and from) we had a fantastic conversation with Eugene who went into detail about the culture and history of Costa Rica and the Guanacaste Province. Eugene enriched our lives with the conversation we had. He is simply a wonderful and amazing person! The pick-up spot for white water rafting was at the river restaurant just off the highway. There, the wait staff took our order for lunch for when we returned. We got together the things we planned to take on the raft and left the rest with Eugene (he stayed at the restaurant until our return). My husband and I sat in the front seat of the trailer truck, and a family of four sat in the back seat. It was roomy and comfortable. Then when we got to the turnoff for the river, we sat in the paddy wagon in the back of the trailer truck along with the family of four and another family of four. Again, this was roomy and comfortable. However, it was definitely bumpy! The ride was beautiful! The views of the volcanos and country side were stunning. When we got closer, we went over a narrow wooden bridge (it was very well constructed). Then we pulled off to a clearing under the canopy where a set of stairs led down to the river. There was no bathroom at the drop-off, but there is plenty of coverage and myself and another women walked off to use a bush. As we prepared for our trip a group of monkeys showed up (be warned-watch out for falling poop!). Once the rafts were off the trailer, a staff member went over safety instructions with our group. The rafts are smaller than other rafts we've used on other white water rafting trips, so when you "get down" it can be a little snug. However, the nice part of the smaller rafts is that they are more intimate and more maneuverable in the rapids. It was just myself and my husband on a raft with our guide Roberto (Rob). The 2 families of four each had their own raft with guide as well. Rob was a hoot! Literally! He made fun animal sounds the entire time. He particularly liked making cat noises, which I got into and joined in. We tried calling the Puma's out of hiding-it didn't work, no sightings. Rob was fun and light-hearted. We had a great conversation with Rob. He pointed out as much wildlife and flora/fauna as possible, he explained things in English and also told us the correct words in Spanish. We told Rob that we had been white water rafting before a number of times and didn't mind falling out to float on the water. He definitely took that up and we had fun going backwards on a rapid and getting booted out. He stayed along side and let us float until we could stand and get back in. He did ask us for permission to fall out on the "mama" rapid. She is definitely no joke, and comes closest to the end. She is part of a series: baby, mama and daddy. Whether you want to flip or not, be prepared for it to happen because she's a big girl and fairly powerful. We again told Rob we didn't mind falling out (I don't think we would have had a chose anyway). My husband ended up under the raft when it flipped. I got pushed out a little further and the water jetted me toward the small cove to the left of the rapid. I stuck my feet out to not get near the rocks and there was water coming down from overheard. I sucked up a little water in my nose, but immediately felt one of the guides grab my life preserver. They had a series of swing ropes to help people out of the little whirl pool where I ended up. Rob felt terrible about me getting pushed out under the small waterfall, but I told him it was a lot of fun. He was concerned but it really was all very enthralling. I would recommend that once you get past the "baby" to hold the red rope on the side of the raft going down the "mama" to ensure you end up under the raft if it flips. I didn't, which is why I ended up over near the little cove. If you don't want to fall out, be sure to tell your guide. They will do everything possible to keep you safe, calm and happy. All of them are very professional and put safety as the number priority. I highly recommend this trip! It really was fantastic! When we finished, they had snacks and drinks for us at a small pavilion. There were also bathrooms available. When we all recovered, we got back in the paddy wagon and headed back to the restaurant for lunch. Lunch was AMAZING! Great local food! We both had the chicken and it was excellent. Plus, the view on the river was beautiful! Again, I highly recommend this trip! This was exceptionally memorable and we enjoyed every minute of it!
