Your afternoon will be wonderfully spent discovering the ancient art of Roman mosaic-making. After a short introduction to traditional techniques, you’ll explore the principles of texture, composition, and marble tile cutting as you create your own mosaic to take home.

What To Expect
The workshop begins with an introduction to the history and techniques of Roman mosaics. Afterwards, you’ll learn and practice the key principles of texture, composition, and marble tile cutting to create your very own mosaic to take home. Our goal is to teach the authentic methods of traditional Roman mosaic craftsmanship, so your artwork will meet the same standards and requirements as ancient pieces. By the end of the session, you’ll have created a personal mosaic — approximately 7” x 5” (about 18 x 13 cm) and weighing around 14 oz (about 400 g) — to take with you as a unique souvenir. This is a full immersion experience: you’ll work in a real mosaic studio and use professional tools. For safety reasons, we recommend this activity for participants aged 12 and above.

5.00Eleonora and Renato are both really kind and passionate, which makes this workshop very friendly. I recommend 100% and will probably come back for another workshop on micromosaic! You will learn about the different techniques of mosaic and make your own, with some advice. It was such a nice experience, as a solo traveller! 5.00I had an amazing time at the workshop! The atmosphere was fantastic, warm, and inspiring. The instructors were incredibly helpful and friendly, making sure everyone felt welcome and supported. We also learned a lot of fascinating facts about mosaics and their history. What made the experience even more special was that the studio is usually involved in serious restoration work of historical mosaics, which added a real sense of authenticity. I had so much fun and left with a beautiful souvenir I made myself. Highly recommended! Thanks!

5.00Friendly, welcoming hosts! Very engaging. Had a wonderful time with our twin 13 year old boys. Everyone loved the experience and end product! Close to the coliseum. A great way to spend the afternoon in an air conditioned art studio. Everyone spoke English very well!

5.00Ok. THIS is the experience you want to have in Rome to cool off in the AC and and spend some time making your own keepsake. We now have so much understanding for the puzzle making abilities and craftsmanship of making mosaic masterpieces. It is incredibly therapeutic as well. We popped in for lunch across the street and it was delish! Enjoy!!
