Apollo and Daphne – a marble sculpture in the Baroque style in natural size, made by the Italian artist Gian Lorenzo Bernini and executed in 1622-1625. Placed in the Borghese Gallery in Rome, this work depicts the culmination of the history of Apollo and Daphne (Phoebe and Daphne) in Ovid’s Metamorphosis.
Galleria Borghese
Pauline Bonaparte as Venus Victrix (or Venus Victorious) is a semi-nude life-size neo-Classical portrait sculpture by the Italian sculptor Antonio Canova. It was commissioned by Pauline Bonaparte’s husband Camillo Borghese and executed in Rome from 1805 to 1808 after she married the representative of the Borghese family. Then, the sculpture moved to Camillo’s house in Turin, then to Genoa, only arriving in the Galleria Borghese around 1838.

This guided tour of the Galleria Borghese was the highlight of my trip to Rome. Martina our guide was extremely knowledgeable. She expertly navigated each gallery room, and truly set the stage for each individual artwork so we could fully understand its meaning. I have never been to a more beautiful collection in my life!

The tour was excellent. The tour guide was superb and very knowledgeable. The only reason it is not a 5 star tour is because the ear phone transmission provided was of poor quality. It was not a matter of volume. Half the time neither my wife or I could understand what the excellent guide was saying unless we removed the earpiece and listened without because the transmitted sound was too fuzzy.

Our guide Alexandra had knowledge of several small details that increased the quality of the guided tour experience. His description of the sculptures and paintings gives a dimension that is not possible with a self-guided tour.

The guide was very knowledgeable and made the experience enjoyable. Unlike the Sistine Chapel, entry is limited to 300 people, so you can really focus on the art. I would have liked a little time to examine the pieces she didn't discuss by myself, but understand time was limited.

Guide was brilliant - super passionate , knowledgeable and warm with clients. Only issue she had was time keeping - 90min itinerary became over 2hr, hard to stand and focus for so long,
