This rating requires some explanation that I think anyone booking should know in order to be happy with their experience. Positives: Our guide, Gonzalo, was wonderful. He’s a delightful person with great humor, lots of laughs, and plenty of insight into local Chilean life and history. He also gives guests flexibility on scheduling and winery selection, which is a key reason to book this experience. I chose this tour for my friend and me specifically because I asked to visit wineries I hadn’t been to before, and he was open to that. Ultimately, we visited three I had already been to and two new ones. Our group was also excellent—a great mix of people, and we all truly enjoyed each other’s company. One of the best parts of group wine tours is the human element, and in that regard, this experience was wonderful. Negatives: Overall, I found parts of the description misleading—not in a way that made the day bad, but in a way that would matter to regular wine-tour enthusiasts. 1. Wine tasting inclusion: The tour is advertised as a wine tasting experience. Given the price, I assumed the tastings were included, as they had been on a previous Casablanca tour I took at the same cost. In the fine print, it does say only one tasting is included—but we never actually had that “included tasting.” At the first winery, we were given a charcuterie board and one bottle of red wine to share among the group of five. This was presented as the tasting. Having done a formal tasting at that same winery the prior year—with six samples and explanations—this did not resemble an actual tasting. I even asked for a bottle of white to try because I was confused about what we were doing there. It still wasn’t a structured tasting, just shared wine with snacks. 2. Second winery (the only true tasting): Our second stop was a beautiful organic winery—exactly the kind of unique place I had asked for—and this was a proper tasting: six wines, a charcuterie board, and time with the owner. It was excellent. However, the group was surprised when we were asked to pay $40 per person for this tasting plus whatever bottles we bought, especially since most places waive tasting fees with purchases. More importantly, we thought this was the included tasting. It wasn’t. When I asked, Gonzalo reiterated that the first shared bottle had been our included tasting. Most of us felt this was a stretch, but we paid and moved on. 3. Remaining winery visits: From that point forward, it became clear that the remaining stops were simply casual visits where we purchased bottles to share rather than participating in actual tastings. Gonzalo kindly bought us a bottle at the third winery, seemingly because he could tell we were disappointed, but it still wasn’t a substitute for a structured tasting experience. There were no further tasting reservations—just “show up and buy wine” stops. Not inherently bad, but certainly not what you expect from a “wine tasting tour.” 4. Scheduling: Traffic added about 30 minutes to the drive, which can happen, but it resulted in a rushed feeling throughout the day—even though the later stops didn’t require reservations. There was a constant sense of needing to move quickly, which took away from the usual relaxed pace of wine touring. 5. Lunch: Lunch was stated upfront as not included, which is normal for group tours. My friend asked about dining at Casa del Bosque, but Gonzalo discouraged it due to price and suggested a local Chilean restaurant instead. This contributed to more timing pressure as he repeatedly mentioned the owner was “waiting for us.” When we arrived, the restaurant was completely empty, so the urgency felt odd. The food was good—not extraordinary—but we were happy to support a local business. My friend had a flight later that evening, so we needed to be finished by 7:30pm, but the pressure to get to the restaurant seemed disconnected from our actual timing needs. 6. Transportation: The listing said we’d be in a luxury SUV, but the vehicle was the guide’s personal car. It was fine, but “luxury” would be an overstatement. We were cramped in the third row, and with six guests, it would have been uncomfortable. Overall, I couldn’t shake the feeling that the value didn’t match the cost—especially considering my previous tour at the same price included three full tastings and transportation in a sprinter van. I would encourage future bookers to compare options carefully and make sure the structure and inclusions match what you are hoping for in a wine-tasting experience.

We had so much fun on the tour, Gonzalo was very flexible and provided us with multiple options throughout the day. He also kept us entertained with some stories which were hilarious. Highly recommended tour. By the way the sparkling, syrah and carmenere wines were our favourites!

We booked this tour on a public holiday without realising. Fortunately the tour guide was very helpful and assisted us with cancelling the booking.

It was amazing! We went to different vineyards, each of them had something special. Some encouraged an owner to talk romantically about their vineyard and its history. Others were welcoming for their stories, aesthetic places or cheap wine:) I liked the Family Mood throughout the trip. We talked about everything and I felt taken care of I highly recommend it!

Gonzalo gave us an amazing private wine tour to all the best vineyards a short distance from Santiago. His English is perfect and he was able to cater the tour to our interests. Viña Casas del Bosque was a highlight at the end with the best empanadas we’ve had in South America. Highly recommend the tour - thanks Gonzalo!

Gonzalo is a wonderful tour guide! He will customize the perfect trip for exactly what you want to do. If you want to learn more about wine then you can, if you want to just sip and relax then you also can do that. On top of that, Gonzalo is great company and has great stories to share. Thanks Gonzalo!

We loved getting to know the organic wineries in the Casablanca Valley. Gonzalo took us to places full of stories and flavors. Then, we take the opportunity to have lunch by the sea and discover the beauty of Isla Negra, immersing ourselves in the stories of Pablo Neruda. It was an excellent experience, we recommend the tour!

Gonzalo organized an excellent day for us. Great wine tastings (a large winery and a smaller one), local lunch experience in Valparaiso and a great walk through the city. He is very knowledgeable about the region and willing to customize the tour to your preferences. Highly recommend!

Gonzalo was great! He put together an amazing wine tour of 3 very different wineries in the Casablanca area. We had a great time and ended up going with him the next day to Santa Rita for lunch. I highly recommend him as a guide, we hope to have the chance to use him again in the future.
