Avoid the standard tour group and immerse yourself with the Colosseum's 2,000-year history with this special access experience.
Inside the Colosseum you'll walk the same steps as gladiators, emperors, and doomed prisoners. Bloodthirsty Romans gathered in this ancient stadium of death to watch gladiator fights and executions, and your guide will explain every gory detail. You'll enter the Colosseum through the special access gladiator's gate, and avoid the crowds in the general access areas.
In addition to the Colosseum, you'll visit the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill (Cesar's Palace). Surrounded by picturesque ruins we'll visit ancient palaces, temples, tombs, the House of the Vestal Virgins, and the Senate house before finishing the tour at the tomb of Julius Cesare.
This 2.5 hour tour concludes in the center of Rome, leaving easy access to local restaurants, cafes, shopping, and public transportation.

What To Expect
Colosseum
Inside the ancient stadium, you'll visit the first and second levels while our enthusiastic guide provides fun, interesting, and relevant information. The Colosseum could host 70,000 Romans in ancient times, all who gathered there to watch blood sports. Exotic animal hunts, beheadings, and Gladiator battles were just among a few of the deadly games held here, and your guide will explain every detail.
Palatine Hill
You'll walk in the footsteps of Rome's most brilliant and also psychotic Emperors as we discover Cesar's Palace, officially called Palatine Hill. Palatine Hill is where Rome was founded nearly 3,000 years ago, and hosts structures dating from B.C. times, through the Renaissance, and most recently buildings built by Benito Mussolini.

Tour representative should have printed tickets

3.00Our taxi never showed up and we arrived late, so we missed the tour. We know they waited for us, and are thankful for that, but the guide should have left the entrance tickets with the tour representative who was outside the colosseum. That was something doable and even if we were not going to have a guided tour, we would had been able to visit the place. On top of that, that representative was rude. We ended up buying tickets to see the place on our own.

5.00We did this tour with David. He was absolutely great!! Totally made the tour for us. He is so funny, knew all the tips/tricks to get us the best views and photo spots. He was a super knowledgeable tour guide and educated us on so many thing, using his incredible humor to keep everyone engaged. Book with him, you won’t regret it!!! #decrew

5.00David was absolutely fantastic, I cannot in good faith recommend any other guide. He was incredibly charismatic, knowledgeable and passionate. David fostered personal connections with each guest attending the tour which made each moment unique and personal. The experience was a perfect blend of educational lecture and stand-up comedy which kept the entire tour remarkably engaging.

5.00The tour was my favorite part of my trip to Rome. It’s one thing to hear about the history of Rome and a whole other to see with your own eyes! David’s story telling was amazing; he was super interactive with the group taking time to know us and keeping the group invested! I highly recommend booking your trips with David if you want to learn some cool history and have some good laughs!

Super easy to find the meeting place, (right by the free still/sparkling water spot...bring a water bottle), great tour, very informative, and got a lot of time to spend on the floor. I would recommend this tour. I've been to the Collusseum, twice now and did the attic and the floor. I would say the floor is better especially since it will be covered in the next 1.5 years so do it now!

5.00What an amazing experience delivered for the whole family (12-65 years) - you MUST request David Battagliano - not only did he make our Tour, he was the highlight of our holiday. David’s knowledge and humour, along with his excellent engaging style, made our visits to the Colosseum, Pantheon and the Forum, wonderful. His wit was brilliant and he gelled our Tour group together which was an amazing experience. David, keep doing what you do. Also, “where’s Cindy”?🤣 🇮🇹 ….and thank you for allowing Zac to lead the group through the Colosseum ….. made his day.

5.00Our tour was the Colosseum and our tour guide was David, now my wife and I have been on many many tours all over the world and David was simply the best, this quy is out of his element, he should have been a college professor his classes would be filled and his student would definitely have a passing grade he makes the boring parts very interesting, he is funny and he engages everyone, he have a unique strategy that get us to the front of every exhibit no matter how crowded it is, every so often he would stop and check on everyone, he promise a good tour and he certainly delivered, I would definitely book him again

5.00This was an excellent tour, with some good in-depth information about the history of the Colosseum and Palatine Hill. The tour was about 3 hours, so in terms of the amount of historical information being packed into 3 hours, it was thorough yet concise. Our guide, David, was great!
