Explore the world's most famous amphitheater with an official guide and journey back to the days of the Roman Empire at the monumental Colosseum.

Get access to areas not available to regular ticket holders, including the underground level where the wild animals were kept before they released onto the arena and where gladiators waited for their turn to fight.

Learn about the innovative techniques the engineers used to build the monument and hear how it has survived for hundreds of years. Be amazed as history is brought to life as you discuss the political and social reasons for the games and events.

You will also see some reconstructions of the machinery the Romans used to lift the wild animals or to create the "special effects" for the games.

The ticket includes admission to the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill. Please note this won't be a guided tour but simple admission.

This excursion is a MUST!!!! One of my 16 year old son’s favorite parts of Rome! And Maya our guide was the absolute BEST!!!! She was very entertaining and kind! And having a small group was worth every penny. Seriously cannot recommend this tour enough! A Rome must!!!

Our underground tour was cancelled and I was told we would have a tour with max 3 people. There were nine in our party. We were also not told about a time change so we ended up going later than we had planned
Better consideration for older Tourists, who are the bulk of the group spending hard earned retirement money.

My ItTaxi driver told me to stay on 2nd level (which is street level) to find my initial tour group person. I should have heeded his word, because a different worker person guiding/ rushing people, at the sidewalk, said, "ya ya go down these stairs". I do it like a dummy. I lost precious minutes, trying to find the tour person! I just made it to correct spot. The 1st initial person, wasn't waving a flag, I just by luck waited at the described spot, and he walked up to me. He smiled, but was abrupt, and at my 69 years, he was too fast paced, to take us to the 2nd tour person. He explained how to go thru metal detection, then find who was actually our guide. Thank goodness, one man in our group knew which way to walk, to find the actual tour guide. I advise that the first tour person, call anyone who is running late! And give clear directions on how to find the actual Tour Guide, after metal detection. Other than that, the actual Tour Guide., was Awesome, and the underground tour was Amazing. Signed, not senile, thin, energetic, retired RN of 69.

Georgia, our local tour guide was very knowledgeable and informative about the underground as well as the above-ground elements of the Colosseum. She made the ruins come to life adding stories and pictures from a pc or I pad she brought for the tour. I highly recommend Georgia for a tour guide.
