Amazing Tour of the Underground

5.00Before this trip I had read what a rare opportunity it is to see the colosseum underground and thus feared that this tour was too good to be true. However I can happily report that the tour did genuinely include the coveted colosseum underground! Our guide was very knowledgeable and helped to draw the line between history and mythology. He made it clear that he took his role very seriously and looked out for everyone on the tour. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in the history of Rome. The morning tour actually starts at 8:15 (not 9) so that the group can get through security checks on time to meet up with the underground guide- however I received numerous messages regarding this ahead of my trip and our guide did his best to contact anyone running late to ensure everyone was able to partake in the tour.

1.00I would not recommend.This was non refundable, and I would have changed to a different tour. Bought underground tour, 1 week before under ground tour, I was notified underground portion was cancelled. Now I was stuck. I should have bought tix direct from the colosseum site which was now sold out for underground. I did not think that you would sell a non refundable ticket and not Deliver on it. Then I received email, text, what’s app and viator chat messages seemingly from different people and different tour groups. Tour without the underground tour and I would receive a nominal refund for the underground tour that would not be taking place. Then two days before I received a message that the tour would be a half hour earlier. And then the day before I received a message that I was not going to be included in the tour and that they would send me ticket for Colosseum entrance and refund additional Charges. Great, they did refund a lot of the charges -$40 per ticket and it only cost $25 to get into the Colosseum so I was basically out money and missed out on what I had anticipated would’ve been an underground tour. Additionally, I bought tix directly from the colosseum just in case the tickets were bogus, since nothing else worked out. Likely will not purchase tix on VIATOR again.
