Very expensive. The underground area is not that vast (just 2 underground levels) you can see alot from the top. The cheaper tour for the underground is probably as cool. This tour would have been better with head phones, our guide would be in the front with his back to us talking, could not hear him. Lots of people and noise everywhere, hard to hear everything when not walking, tried so hard to listen I would close my eyes or look at the ground to concentrate missing out on the view. Also our guide was in a rush. Our guide was very knowledgeable and we appreciated that.

Very informative and definitely recommend doing the underground tour! Especially if you enjoy history and gladiators. It's worth it!

This was an incredible tour! You are essentially buying the entrance ticket (and tour) from the company. They do not go inside with you. You then go inside with the group to meet with an official Colloseum guide. If you’re trying to figure out which tour to book, I think this is probably as close as you can get to a full Colloseum experience. They only allow 500 underground tickets per day, and when you are in the underground you are there with your group ONLY. They stagger entrance times so you are able to have a semi private experience. Our guide (Paola) was exceptionally knowledgeable about Roman history and the Colloseum (as you would expect). You start under the stage and work your way through the underground. You then go up a (original) staircase to the arena floor where the group accesses a roped off area so you can see the entire interior of the Colloseum free of crowds for pictures and more historical details. The tour ends on the stage, another area where access is limited, where you can sit and enjoy the view. Once you leave the stage area you can access the first and second floors, but they are very crowded. I think the only thing not included in this ticket is the attic. I’m sure there are great views up there, but I did not feel we were missing much. I was very pleased with this purchase and definitely felt like we received VIP access.

This was a great tour. If you don't take a tour, you won't really understand the whole purpose of the Colosseum

Disappointing. Total tour was 52 minutes long. 10:00 am to 10:52 am. Guide was not open to questions and seemed rushed. She would explain something and by the time the entire group was able to see what she was talking about, she had already moved on to something else. We also too another tour Colosseum through Viator (not underground) and learned SO much more - including a lot of insights about the underground.

The underground tour is absolutely worth the extra expense. We got to enjoy a tour that was not crowded as most of the other areas of the Colosseum were. We also had time in the arena that was not overly crowded. Our guide was great and the tour operator made sure we were where we needed to be with clear instructions.

My family and I thought this tour was fantastic! Our guide was very knowledgeable, informative, and had a great energy. We chose this tour specifically for the underground access and it was very interesting. The footing can be a little uneven and the stairs leading down and up are a bit steep; just be careful, especially if you have any mobility problems. Overall, the tour was fantastic and I learned things about the colosseum that I’ve never heard about!

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour led by Giovanni and learned a great deal of history about the Colosseum and Ancient Rome. We were able to visit the Underground with only a few other small groups, which was a great benefit. Would highly recommend!

I had an absolutely amazing experience with Discover Rome Tours! From the moment the tour began, everything was perfectly organized and professional. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable, passionate, and engaging, bringing ancient Roman history to life with fascinating stories and insights. We got to skip the long lines, which saved us so much time, and every site we visited—especially the Colosseum and Roman Forum—was breathtaking. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Rome. It was the highlight of my trip and worth every moment!

The meetup address is incorrect. It was on the opposite side of the stadium. We finally found the “tour company” since they noted a nearby cafe on the booking. The directions given by the guide were sloppy and inaccurate. When everyone was checked in the guide said to follow some random guy who had no flag or tour affiliation to allow us to find him in a crowd. He ran off in a sea of people expecting everyone to run to keep up. Many people on the tour ended up scolding him and asking him not to run off again. They do not lead you into the stadium and directed the group to follow some random person behind the turnstile who later told us not to follow her and that she was a private guide. Once you get into the stadium you and the rest of your group will have to ask a lot of questions to find the meeting place to find the actual guide who turns out is someone from the Coliseum Museum. They have nothing to do with this tour company. Basically, this tour company buys up the underground tour tickets so that tourists can’t purchase them at the regular price and then raises the prices a few hundred euros to make a profit. This tour company is a scam and not a tour company at all. They buy tickets, do not provide a tour at all and expect you to find your own way to meeting point inside the coliseum.
