What To Expect

Treasure Hunt York will take you on a beautiful route, and send you to fabulous places, all at your own pace. Because it’s all on your phones, it’s super flexible and there’s nothing to print. You'll have a laugh solving the clues and following the maps. Something in a shop window catch your eye? No problem. Take it at your own pace. Even turn it into a pub crawl! Along the way you'll learn interesting facts and stories keeping you entertained. By the end of it all, you'll have a great overview of York and what you'd like to explore next. It's works like WhatsApp, so it’s easy to use. You don’t need to download or print anything and it doesn’t need any permissions. Plus, you get to start when you want. Play together Captain Bess will invite you and your friends to join the hunt. Follow maps Bess sends you a series of treasure maps to your phones, leading you around the city. Search for answers Bess sends you a series of clues and you have to search the city for answers. Don't worry if you can't find the answer right away, you can always ask for hints. Along the way, she'll tell you interesting facts and stories about the things you're spotting.

Great way to explore, fun and can shop en route too! Such a fab idea, wish they had this in every city! So many elements you might miss when just walking around, highly recommend!!

I always love doing puzzle tours. They are a great way to explore a city whilst also getting some good exercise. A fun way to pass the time and find areas of cities you may not ordinarily see.

Although the weather made some parts unplayable, it was overall a very good game and we all had a laugh running around York and experiencing it all together!

Great way to see the city. Second treasure hunt we’ve done. Will be doing more. Would also recommend the Leeds treasure hunt. See you soon either in Edinburgh or Brighton.

This was a really fun, informative experience. We saw and found out lots about York and its history that we had missed on a previous visit. It was good value, easy to sign up for and to participate, no pressure or gimmicks, just a relaxed way to find out more about York and see the sights. Highly recommended.

Had a really good time on the treasure hunt, learned about the city, and saw some fascinating places along the snickelways that you wouldn't normally see. Easy to join at any time of day, and great clues (although some are a bit obscure, and others only make sense if you've found the object you need first, so keep your eyes peeled!). A great way to experience York. Would recommend.

We did this for a hen do and it was so much fun! The clues were a good level of not too easy/hard and we saw so many new things that we had never spotted in York before. It was a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Would highly recommend and would love to try the ones in other cities too!
