It is only about an hour and a quarter long, but we did see all the sites of York in our guide was really good because the shambles was really busy so she held up her broomstick and shouted make way for the witch so that we could all get through. She was a brilliant guide.

We did the York Witches Tour on Saturday 13th December 2025 and it was absolutely brilliant. Before even getting to the tour itself, what really attracted us was the choice of three time slots, late afternoon, tea time, and early evening. That flexibility was perfect, especially if you’re trying to plan the day around sightseeing and dinner. Another big bonus was the length of the tour. At around an hour, it’s ideal in winter, long enough to be entertaining and informative, but not so long that you’re frozen after a full day exploring York. As for the tour itself, it was fantastic. Our professional witch, who led us trainee witches around the city, was superb, really funny, engaging, and full of character. She struck a great balance between being informative and theatrical, which is exactly what you want on a tour like this. She was also very good at reading the group, knowing who to engage with more and allowing those who preferred to stay a bit quieter to enjoy the experience comfortably. It was entertaining, educational, and a really fun way to learn about the city. We thoroughly enjoyed it, hank you! I’d definitely recommend it to anyone visiting York.

What you get on this is a performance by a character. There was no actual interaction other than as a foil to the delivered script which which is at the level of a children's pantomime with cringey jokes that you are very directly invited to laugh at. The "story" is that you are all trainee witches in thrall to the hilarious guide. We found it difficult to follow the over-theatrical delivery or care about what was being said as it all sounded disingenuous. This is a potentially fascinating subject that played second fiddle to the script, questions or genuine interaction were not encouraged. This might be appreciated by others but we found it disappointing, underwhelming and somewhat patronizing. Our guide played the role he was engaged to and delivered his script, it felt very manufactured.

Not great. Can't relate to to the narration. The guide spoke with a particular accent and the narrative seems to go from here and there. She tried to lighten things up but they are really not funny to me.

Tour with Oleander Sage was very disappointing despite the incredible atmosphere. She forgot her script more than once and needed to pause to refocus her thoughts on where she was in her performance, which caused the group to lose interest. Although it was only an hour, it was a sincere waste of our time and money.

Hollyander was brilliant, she entertained us right to the end, so professional and witty, she knew her history and made it a memorable day.
