  Huy is a very knowledgeable Hanoian photographer. He shows us the very everyday life scenes of Hanoi that a tourist usually misses. Discover Hanoi with him is worth every minute. I can shoot the scenes that I would never have the occasion to see by myself. Greatly recommend for photo enthusiasts and "regular" tourists alike

  I had such a great time on this photo tour! Normally, Huy does a walk through the Old Quarter, but since I already knew that area, he put together a completely new route just for me — and it was amazing. He showed me places I never would have found on my own, and every spot had its own charm and story. What I loved most was talking with him about photography. He’s passionate, knowledgeable, and really easy to connect with. If you’re into photography and want to see a more authentic side of Hanoi, I can’t recommend this experience enough.

  My 16 year old daughter and I had a fantastic time under Nguyen’s guidance on our photo walk. He spoke with us about our photography styles, gave us tips, and ideas on what to focus on as we walked around. He took us through small streets and to some higher points to look down below. It was so fun and we definite saw things that we would not have on our own. Nguyen was so patient and kind in wanting to show us a number of spots. It was a wonderful experience!

  What a fantastic way to experience Hanoi through the lens of a camera. Nguyen did an outstanding job guiding us through a variety of neighbourhoods, taking us well beyond the Old Quarter. It was a chance to see a different side of the city — quieter streets, local markets, and everyday moments that are a dream for anyone interested in street photography. Nguyen brought great insight and enthusiasm to the day. We had thoughtful conversations about approach, technique, and what makes a compelling image. After the photo walk, he took the time to sit down with us for a review session that was both supportive and constructive. One of the most thoughtful touches was Nguyen printing three of our favourite images from the day and having them delivered to our hotel — a generous and unexpected gesture that really set the experience apart. Whether you're new to street photography or more experienced, I can’t recommend this tour enough. Nguyen is knowledgeable, warm, and genuinely passionate about sharing both his city and his craft.

  I visited Hanoi for the first time in January 2024 and had the pleasure of meeting Nguyen. We spent time walking around the city, and he shared invaluable tips on using my phone camera more effectively for street and other styles of photography. Nguyen was incredibly professional, yet warm and approachable—it felt more like catching up with an old friend than meeting someone new. If you’re in Hanoi and looking for something unique to do, I can’t recommend this experience enough. Nguyen is a true professional who ensures you have a great time while learning a lot along the way.

  If you love photography and people, this Photowalk with Nguyen Mai Huy in Hanoi is an absolute “MUST “📸! Mai Huy is not only a fantastic photographer but also a truly wonderful person. I spent some incredibly valuable and enjoyable hours, where I had the chance to observe and experience the streets of Hanoi from new perspective and capture some nice moments! It didn’t matter, if you’re an experienced photographer or an amateur like me— you’re guaranteed to have a fantastic time!!!👌Mai Huy not only knows a lot about photography, he also took me to hidden streets and corners of the city that an average tourist would probably never find, and that would be a missed opportunity!   We started with some hot local Tea, discussing the expectations for the day, where we planned to go and what I’d like to see. We also went through experience levels, it was great to swap and discuss ideas, techniques and other artists who inspire us. After that, we set off in search of some images. Making the best of the difficult lighting conditions that day. After our time in the Old Quarter, we had another break for Tea, then went deeper into the backstreet markets, well away from the tourists. It was great to see local life unfolding and capturing those genuine moments in time. Nguyen, was very attentive, and after confirming that I still had the energy, we continued long after the official tour was over (he had some free time that day) After a great morning, we stopped for coffee and to discuss what we had seen and taken, we both had mutual respect for each others work and techniques. Regardless of your skill level, I really recommend getting out and about with Nguyen whilst you’re in Hanoi, it’s a fantastic experience at a very reasonable price.
