I Virtuosi dell'opera di Roma
The Orchestra I Virtuosi dell’opera di Roma is specialized in performing whole opera repertoire from the Italian lyrical tradition. “La Traviata”, the opera by Giuseppe Verdi, set in Paris in mid 1800’, narrates the impossible love between Violetta, a well-known courtesan, and Alfredo, a young good-looking nobleman. Since its beginning, their story is predestined to end in tragedy. During a party, courtesan Violetta discovers that Alfredo loves her since one year. A short while afterwards they are living together near Paris, but because of her past behaviour, Alfredo’s father asks her to leave him. Violetta sacrifices herself and Alfredo, unaware, hurts her. A few months later Violetta is dying. Soon Alfredo is there at her bedside. Crying out that she feels life returning, she falls dead in his arms. The Orchestra I Virtuosi dell'opera di Roma usually perform in the elegant Salone Margherita Theatre and in the prestigious Church of St. Paul within the Walls in Rome.

The experience of travel to partake indifferent cultures is the base form of education. Our opera was only the second one I’ve ever attend. It was wonderful, and the booking process was extremely easy.

This is a show created for tourists, nothing special. The artists were just fine, and the stage design rather poor.

Great evening activity in Rome. Really enjoyed the singers and music. Hot inside the church, but it was a 35 degree day.

First off, let me say that the cast and musicians did a fine job. The performance in and of itself is well-executed. The venue, however, leaves a lot to be desired. We attended on a warm (95 F) Rome day. Be warned that the church does not have air conditioning nor does it have any ventilation to speak of. My wife and I were fanning ourselves constantly throughout the performance with our programs and dripping sweat. We only made it through the 2nd Act. Note that the outside temperature was a good 15-20 degrees cooler by the end, but staff were unwilling, or unable to open the doors. Also note that if you choose the cheaper seats, you will be in the very back of the church in folding chairs. These seats may be preferable to the hard pews, but they are first come, first served. Overall, the experience was ok, but I would not recommend it if the weather is warm.

The opera was excellent! La Trav is my favorite and they did it justice. We got the vip seats and could see fine from the 4th row. The sound and singing was top notch! I was moved to tears a few times.

This was a wonderful performance. And the acoustics in the church were excellent. I enjoyed it very much, and I highly recommend it.

Some great performances and great venue. Poor acoustics though. Ladies, could barely hear them. The music drowned them out. The best sound was when Alfredo sang from the back of the church.

It was our first opera. It was reasonably priced, no dress code. The performance was great, and easy to follow!
