It was a great tour. Very interesting to see how the conical hats and incense’s are made. Also, to see life outside of Hanoi. Leon was a very nice guide. I was traveling solo and he assisted with capturing some great photos of me.

It was a very interesting tour to a incense village where you can see how they make incense by hand from scratch the old way. Then we went to a local home where she teach us how the hats are made and we get to paint our own hat. That is the whole tour. There is no food or drinks included. I picked the half tour so we met at 12pm and we got by by 7pm. Ken the tour guy was fantastic , a very charismatic young man who is very patient and ongoing. My 18 year old daughter enjoyed painting her own hat very much. The bus was very comfortable and we were a small group of 10 which I loved. Overall a good experience. I am only disappointed because one thinks there are fields and fields of incense - but no!!! You only see incense laid on the floor on the backyard of a shop. So don’t believed everything you see in instagram.

This trip is what you make of it, it's affordable though I have heard cases of it spiking in price, so check multiple guide apps / sites. There is a lot of creativity involved and if you aren't interested in painting and photography, this probably won't be for you, but if you are, you can have a lot of fun. Learning about the hat making process is nice as well as the incense. There are lots of opportunities to get great shots and slo-mo videos and you can take both a hat and incense home with you. If I were to recommend anything further, perhaps a cooking class and lunch to finish off the 1/2 day.
