What To Expect
Jewish Museum of Rome
Jewish Roma guides are the only guides authorized to take visitors privately inside the synagogues and the Jewish museum. You will visit the collection of the Museum and two synagogues, the Spanish and the Great one.

We will walk the narrow streets of the former ghetto. We will see where Jews have been segregated for 330 years and where they still live today. We will meet locals and hear their stories from WWII. You will enhance your understanding of Rome by visiting the most ancient Jewish community outside of Israel

5.00We took 3 walking tours provided by Jewish Roma. 2 of the tours were with the fabulous Micaela. The 1st tour was a 3 hour tour of the Rome Jewish Ghetto area. We started at the Jewish Museum, visited 2 local synagogues while Micaela provided important historical and religious context. Micaela's enthusiasm and deep knowledge provided an unforgettable experience. Afterwards, we took a 2nd unusual and unforgettable tour with Micaela of the Jewish Catacombs, which were off the beaten path. In addition, the next day we took another 3 hour + tour of the Vatican Museum and the Sistine Chapel. This unique tour was presented from a Jewish perspective. We highly recommend working with Micaela and her colleagues.

5.00Outstanding is the only word to describe this tour. Micaela is delightful and, as an active member of the Roman Jewish community with deep roots — her perspective is compelling. We had no idea that this community existed and is so vibrant. Through her eyes and explanations we felt both the joy and the tragedy of the Jews of Rome and really built a connection. Micaela is wonderful and the history is so enlightening.

5.00Michaela was a terrific guide with tremendous knowledge of jewish life in Italy. As a jewish citizen of Rome we learned all about the history of the jewish people and their customs today. She keep us engaged with her stories and enthusiasm. I highly recommend her tour!

5.00When in Rome, do not miss taking a tour of the Jewish museum/synagogue and ghetto with Micaela and Jewish Roma Walking Tours. She not only makes history come alive, but she brings her full, authentic self to the tour bringing thousands of years of history to the present day. I have taken tours all over Italy and the world, and this by far was one of the most engaging, thoughtful, and inspiring tours I’ve ever done. If you want to learn about Jewish Rome, why would you take a tour from anyone other than someone intimately connected to the community? Highly recommended.

5.00We spent a wonderful late morning and early afternoon with Macaela. Not only did our small group feel like family, we learned so much about the Jews of Rome. Macaela's energy and passion for her subject is contagious. And to wrap up our tour just as the Jewish quarter was beginning to prepare for Shabbat was extra special. This tour was a highlight of our time in Rome.
