Porta San Sebastiano
The Porta San Sebastiano, originally known as Porta Appia, is one of the largest and best-preserved gates in the Aurelian Walls, which encircle ancient Rome. This impressive structure marks the beginning of the historic Appian Way, Rome’s “Queen of Roads,” and serves as a stunning reminder of the city’s ancient defensive systems. A Majestic Entrance: Marvel at the grandeur of this massive gate, which dates back to the 3rd century AD and was a critical part of Emperor Aurelian’s fortifications. Learn how Porta San Sebastiano served as a key military defense point, guarding the road that led to the south of Italy.

Our driver, Alessandro, was so great! He was friendly and personable, gave us a lot of great information on the places we visited. Per our request, he dropped us off at a great restaurant that he recommended instead of taking us back to the hotel. We absolutely loved this tour!

What a great experience! Stefano was super friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable. He spoke multiple languages and helped my father, who needs mobility assistance. The catacombs were totally unique and should not be missed. Be sure to ask a lot of questions! They have tours in dozens of languages. Beautiful churches and scenery. Don’t miss this one! Well-worth every penny.

This is a perfect way to see a beautiful part of Rome, especially during the warmer summer months! Lorenzo was a great driver/guide, and it was nice to have such easy transportation to the catacombs and the Appian Way during the heat of the day. He was accommodating with our request to stop and see a couple of churches near the catacombs and gave us lots of history of the area. It was a great afternoon!
