Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew
Head inside Kew Gardens and then spend as little or as much time as you like exploring London’s finest botanical gardens. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Kew Gardens consists of acres of tranquil grounds with one of the world’s largest collections of plants. Either walk around at leisure or join one of the free guided walking tours that take place daily in the gardens. Stroll around admiring highlights like the Azalea Garden, Minka House and Bamboo Garden in the center of the park. Check out the 17th century-style Queen’s Garden near Kew Palace (also known as the Dutch House), and see several of Kew’s oldest sculptures that were donated by the British Royal Family. Perhaps take a walk along the Rhizotron and Xstrara Treetop Walkway, and stroll through the crowns of oak trees at a height of 59 feet (18m), seeing birdlife, fungi and lichen up close. Watch out for the 10-storey Pagoda in the southwest corner of the gardens, and wander along the Holly Walk, seeing trees that have grown there for over 130 years. Bask in balmy tropical temperatures inside Temperate House – the world’s largest surviving Victorian glasshouse – and see a spectacular array of African plants and sub-tropical trees and palms. In the center of the beautiful building is a Chilean Wine Palm, which is said to be one of the world’s tallest indoor plants. With plenty of leafy picnic areas, as well as four cafés on site, you can eat lunch inside the gardens (own expense), or simply sit down and relax in between seeing all the rich flora and fauna.

Wonderful place and more in autumn. For all ages. Well conditioned. Don't miss it if you come to London. It's one of his jewels.

We did the Halloween trail again based from the 2024 experience we had that was fairly good given it was the first year it was run. However this year we were all very disappointed. We started off with doing the trail at night so we decided to have a light dinner at the stall. Apart from the 20 min wait for a small portion of food at expensive prices the fact that you had to queue up at another stall for drinks made you waste a lot of time. We then went on the trail expecting some prop changes from 2024. The trail seemed a lot shorter or maybe because we were not impressed with this years setup, I don’t know. For the price paid per head on peak time it took us less the 45 mins to do the so called 1.5 km trail. I could count on 2 area that were ok, the giant spider on the move and the laser light display in the tree were good. Other than that the kids just walked uninterested. There were less actors engaged in trying to spook you (and I get it it’s for all ages, so can’t be too scary) but just having sound tracks in the background didn’t do it for us! To be honest at the end of the trail we all said ‘that can’t be just it! Is it really the end?’ We didn’t even take pics this year. So, sorry but I won’t be going next year as was disappointed of cost vs what you get for less than an hour of entertainment. Cinema next time and will be cheaper.

Went to the evening halloween event with our two children (8 and 10). We were all really impressed: such atmosphere, nice surprises, and all in good spirit. Really much better than our expectations!

Enjoyed an afternoon at Kew with plenty to see. The gardens, trees and conservatories are all really nice. The tree top walk was a highlight as was the palm house.

My children and I enjoyed walking around the beautiful gardens. Lunch in the Orangerie was not to be recommended: too full, long queues, food quality just about OK. The exhibition of illustrations near the main entrance was, compared to the bright sunshine, too dark for my eyes to enjoy. The male staff member on dury showed no intestest in my difficulties, and started talking about me in the 3rd person with my children. I consider that rude.

Loved spending about 4 hours there. Despite being on a Sunday, it wasn’t overly crowded. Being flat it makes it such an easy park to get around. Taking the garden train and doing the full circuit up front gave an excellent overview of what we could see and wanted to go back to. Such a relaxed environment to wander around and enjoy the tranquility and beauty. Even a great dedicated area of for kids to enjoy and families to picnic We actually caught a bus from Heathrow Terminal 4 where we were staying and then a train back. Very easy to get to and from. Kew Gardens Train station is only a few minutes amble so really easy to get to and from.

Garden was just changing colours so trees had Autumn leaves. Sign posting and map not easy to follow. Sadly the noise from aeroplanes taking off make the Gardens very noisy and far from tranquil. We also seemed to be constantly having to step out of the way of Kew Garden vehicles. Loved the green houses. Lush plants, lots of information and quieter. Material.World Exhibition - one of my reasons for visiting- was very disappointing. Exhibits looked tired, were few in number and the audio could not be heard. I don't feel it lived up to the description and learned nothing about the plants being used, the story of cloth or the need for sustainable growing. No paper made the interactive rubbing activity a non experience. As a wheelchair user the information about natural dyeing was very difficult to read due to the height, horizontal layout and reflective glass.

Travelled d.own to London by train (expensive) to use a voucher given as a present. At the gate we were told that 3 of the attractions were closed. Not a good start! The parks flora and fauna were wonderful to see. The Palm house, Lily house and temperate house were stunning in their variety of rare plants and we enjoyed those. We walked a fair distance to get to Charlotte house and the Woodland walk, only to find these were also closed along with the 3 closures we had been told about. We then decided to walk to see the art in one of the galleries only to find both galleries closed because of an event happening in the evening. I think Kew should seriously think about refunding people for the closure of attractions. Or week by week ,on their website, letting their customers know what attractions are open. We would, if we had known gone to Kew at a different time.

This used to cost 1p until 1983, now it costs over £20 each, not worth it, unless you've got some special reason to go there. There are however special £1 tickets for hardship qualifiers. The glass house, (pond, tower) and other buildings are doing important biological work, but it's not public. They should of course be funded. The park itself is not busy and has some nice aspects. If you just want to go to a nice park, there are equally nice parks in London, Hyde Park, Regents Park, etc that are free and more accessible.
