Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew
Head inside Kew Gardens and then spend as little or as much time as you like exploring London’s finest botanical gardens. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Kew Gardens consists of acres of tranquil grounds with one of the world’s largest collections of plants. Either walk around at leisure or join one of the free guided walking tours that take place daily in the gardens. Stroll around admiring highlights like the Azalea Garden, Minka House and Bamboo Garden in the center of the park. Check out the 17th century-style Queen’s Garden near Kew Palace (also known as the Dutch House), and see several of Kew’s oldest sculptures that were donated by the British Royal Family. Perhaps take a walk along the Rhizotron and Xstrara Treetop Walkway, and stroll through the crowns of oak trees at a height of 59 feet (18m), seeing birdlife, fungi and lichen up close. Watch out for the 10-storey Pagoda in the southwest corner of the gardens, and wander along the Holly Walk, seeing trees that have grown there for over 130 years. Bask in balmy tropical temperatures inside Temperate House – the world’s largest surviving Victorian glasshouse – and see a spectacular array of African plants and sub-tropical trees and palms. In the center of the beautiful building is a Chilean Wine Palm, which is said to be one of the world’s tallest indoor plants. With plenty of leafy picnic areas, as well as four cafés on site, you can eat lunch inside the gardens (own expense), or simply sit down and relax in between seeing all the rich flora and fauna.

Gardens are good, that’s where it ends. Restaurant staff, quality of food, quality of cleanliness are all awful. Not managed in any way. Total chaos and staff don’t know what they’re talking about or what they’re even doing. The buggy’s used by ground staff are driven too fast and inconsiderately in a way that appears that customers are a nuisance! Waste of money. I have written to senior management with very detailed examples of complaint but appears they are not interested due to lack of reply, that says it all.

Visited Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew and, to be fair, it’s absolutely stunning — especially in spring. Everything is in bloom, beautifully maintained, and it’s a really lovely place to spend a few hours. We genuinely enjoyed the gardens. But the luggage situation? Completely baffling. There is no place whatsoever to store your bags — no lockers, no facilities, nothing. You’re expected to carry everything with you all day. We were told the lockers were removed due to security concerns, which might sound reasonable… except it makes no sense in practice. You can still walk in with luggage, enter buildings, and there are no bag checks at all. So lockers are gone “for security,” but bags are still allowed everywhere without any screening? It just doesn’t add up. Worth knowing before you visit — if you have luggage, you’re completely on your own. A bit ridiculous, honestly.

Beautiful day to walk in a garden and to see Henry’s castle. Wear your walking shoes because there is a lot of ground to cover and bring water! We decided that if we lived near this garden, we would buy a year round pass

Need to allow for a half day to see everything that Kew has to offer. Great places to eat and we visited late spring so the bulbs were amazing.

Just to make sure to dress appropriately. The weather can be inconsistent. If you desire to fully experience the gardens, wear comfortable shoes.

A great day out in a beautiful location only spoiled by the 25 minute queue to get two cans of tango in the Pavillion bar and grill cafe! The only person running the orders had no idea how to use an automatic coffee maker and the queue was out the door. Tip, have one person making coffee and one doing everything else.

I stopped for a coffee in the cafe near the pagoda.. sadly it has been the worst experience ever . I can’t believe the poor staff are worked off of their feet . I could not order a coffee at the table as I didn’t have my card with me to pay .. so I joined a queue with 30 other patrons I waited for 35 mins to get a coffee!! On the app it stated there was a 20 mins wait for food after speaking to a manager she was delightful, could not have apologised more about being short of staff !! So my feedback to MANAGEMENT: it’s NOT ROCKET SCIENCE , did you not see the weather prediction or know its half term ? , it’s half term a lovely day and you are taking £25 pp .. GET MORE STAFF to cope with the volume of visitors wanting refreshment and if your overstaffed God Forbid!, then they can clear tables quicker and serve food .. ps I’m a long time member and feel sorry for the staff and customers with this level of service for the price paid … Also sort out your ordering app to be more user friendly..

Don’t book tickets with these people. They are useless and are only after your money. Go directly to Kew.
