What To Expect

Your Sightseeing Tour starts from your accommodation, ensuring a great start your chauffeur will do a full introduction and point out all the on-board facilities in the vehicle. Once the formalities are out of the way they will run through the itinerary for the day and ensure all the passengers are comfortable and answer any questions before setting off. • Starting at Edinburgh Castle. In 1566 Mary Queen of Scots gave birth to James VI in the royal palace within the castle and the tiny bed-closet still survives. Most importantly to Scots, in 1996 the Stone of Destiny, Scotland’s coronation stone, was placed in the Crown Room alongside the nation’s Crown Jewels, (the Honours of Scotland), following its return from Westminster after a space of 800 years. • Tour the Grassmarket, one of the oldest parts of the city, and although the architecture has changed the layout retains the historic character of a bustling market place with many taverns and inns where in times gone by the drovers would come to sell their cattle. Today there are still a variety of pubs and independent shops including the White Hart Inn which may be the oldest pub in Edinburgh. Once visited by the poet Robert Burns in 1791 and by the poet Dorothy Wordsworth. • Travel down the Royal Mile past St Giles Cathedral, the Peoples Story Museum and The Scottish Parliament building, stopping to visit Greyfriars Bobby, the loyal Skye Terrier who remained by his master’s grave for fourteen years, to the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the official residence of the Queen in Scotland. The palace was home to Mary Queen of Scots for six years and houses beautiful tapestries and paintings. You may wish to see the city from above and take a drive through Holyrood Park and around Arthurs Seat, the extinct volcano overlooking Edinburgh, with some spectacular views. • Now in contrast visit the New Town through Charlotte Square to the Georgian House to experience the elegance of 18th-century living in Edinburgh’s New Town. Designed in 1791 by Robert Adam, Scotland’s foremost 18th-century architect, Charlotte Square was one of the most fashionable and desirable residential addresses in the New Town. • Finally, in Edinburgh you can visit Ocean Terminal and view the Royal Yacht Brittania where presidents, Kings and Queens were entertained. It was, first and foremost, the home from home of the Royal family when entertaining abroad. As part of your tour of Britannia, why not visit the Royal Deck Tea Room? You can enjoy delicious, and freshly prepared, home-made food, stunning views and a warm welcome. Your sightseeing tour finishes with all passengers being taken back to their accommodation, the Door to Door experience helps you enjoy the full tour without the worry of finding you way back at the end of the day. Thank you for a stress free experience! I was a single physically disabled woman travelling back from an international conference, and my overnight flight scheduled to leave the 22nd was delayed repeatedly until the next morning (the 23rd), meaning I didn't get into London until very late at night a full 12 hours later than originally planned/scheduled. Your staff were responsive and professional dealing with an extremely sleep deprived me as I continued to keep you updated as the flight encountered one delay after another, and Kenneth was wonderful when I finally did land. By far the least stressful part of my trip!

Absolutely the most reliable service! Six-hour delay on an early morning flight into Heathrow. Aura communicated throughout the delays and eventual reschedule and assured me they would be there whenever I finally arrived. Drivers are always professional and friendly.

We had an easy, enjoyable trip riding with Jamie from Heathrow Airport to Woodhall Spa in Lincolnshire. He picked us up in baggage claim exactly where they said he would be, helped us with our luggage, and transported us in a very well fitted-out Mercedes van. He was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area and made the drive very relaxing for us. We will definitely use this company again!

Another excellent journey. This time with Jamie, our Chauffeur. He had to keep in touch with us when we landed due to strikes at terminal 5. All went well with a slight delay. Jamie was waiting for us with a smile. A good journey home with his excellent driving. Would certainly recommend Aura Journeys.

We booked with Aura Journeys for our recent trip to the UK (LHR-Lincoln return). Our experience was first class and we highly recommend Aura. Their team was incredibly responsive and managed flight delays, itinerary changes and traffic snarls very professionally. The vehicles were immaculate, the drivers amazing and our journeys were positive from start to finish!

Rusty old Mondeo with a grumpy late driver. Course not, just the usual Aura experience, easy to book, good comms right up to the driver telling me where he was as we waited in baggage reclaim at the airport. Usual almost brand new Merc with our usual driver. We both fell asleep and awoke a couple of minutes from home, perfect. Will we go again? Can't think why not, their local base is almost visible from our house, so local driver, knows the area in the dark. Price, no idea, good service so they are our go to and they are our come to. Perfect for both of us.
