Viator switched the Mamertine Prison tour with a different tour that I didn’t pay for nor was I compensated correctly for their mistake. The switch wasn’t communicated until after the tour ended and only after I spoke up. Unprofessional!

We were running behind and our tour guide waited for us and helped us find the meeting point. She escorted us to the Catacombs and gave us some information on the Catacombs. Then she escorted us back and to the Mamertine prison. She was very nice and knowledgeable. Worth booking.

The company changed the time of tour at the last minute to 30 minutes before scheduled time, which was listed on our itinerary multiple times. So we hustled and left another site early to get there 20 minutes before original meeting time. However, the tour did not wait for us at meeting point. They finally got us a taxi to catch up to rest of tour. However no guide from company at either site. Would have been much easier to do on own. Tour provided no tangible benefit. Definitely would not book again with this company.

This prison with dungeon was well known for condemning to death high profile prisoners. Many historical figures got punished by starvation, strangulation, or beheading. Once the door shut, there's only little air and no light. Paul and Peter were held here before being martyred. Paul imprisoned twice, the second one was here. 2Timothy Paul's final letter was believed to be written in this prison.

Maria did a great job leading us in our experience. She was very knowledgeable and super nice. This was definitely one of the coolest places I visited during my duration in Rome.

Great customer service. I appreciated the one on one help from Zeina and being walked over to the Mamertine Prison. I also was thankful for being fit into the Coliseum on the same day. Super late request. Great communication. So my experience was Top Notch!

We enjoyed our tour of both the prison and the catacombs. We appreciated Zeina’s assistance in navigating us to the prison and arranging rides to and from the catacombs. It was a good afternoon!

Guides are not allowed in the mamertine prison, it is self- guided via reading placards or listening to an app. It is very small- but worth it to see the small underground levels where Peter and Paul were imprisoned. We had a very sweet lady who escorted us to the meeting point and transportation to catacombs via a Mercedes van to the catacombs. Catacombs were interesting, but tour was quite fast. Pictures are only allowed to be taken in the church above the catacombs, so unfortunately no documented memories to take home to share with people who cannot visit. The catacomb tunnels are worth the visit overall. Tunnels are dark, but wide and tall enough to walk single file through. The history was good.
