The hike up to the crater of Vesuvius requires a good level of general fitness. The walk is uphill at a 14 degree angle and takes roughly 20 minutes.

4.00Tmstarting with the negatives. The travel is a bit of a slog, unavoidable when traveling so far but to be considered, the coach is not greatly comfortable but, again, to be expected when transporting 30 ish people for a 12 hour round trip. That said 100% utterly worth it for the history in pompeii alone. The tour guide was delightful and engaging The geologist walk was fascinating and ultimately made the trip worth it all on its own. The female geologist our group had ( forgotten her name ashamed to say) was brilliant insightful and excellent, clearly passionate. If you are at all interested in volcanoes and the science behind the pompeii eruption its worth the time. Would highly recommend

5.00We had a wonderful time with John from City Tours. We spent time at Pompeii with a knowledgeable tour guide who shared information about the city and the every day lifestyle of the people. Next, we had lunch on Mt Vesuvius where we enjoyed wine and a Neapolitan pizza. 🤌 We then hiked Mt. Vesuvius where we again were well informed about the eruption. Both on the trip to and from John shared history and facts about the area. I would highly reccomend .

He was incredibly knowledgeable, patient with questions, and had a great sense of humor that made the day even more enjoyable. The climb up Vesuvius was well-paced, and Jonathan made sure everyone felt comfortable while sharing fascinating insights about the volcano’s history. 5.00Had a blast on this tour of Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius. Our tour guide Johnathan was very dynamic and knowledgable, and the pizza was delicious. Our hike up Vesuvius helped the digestion and we had a local geologist guide us through the history of the volcano. Highly recommend!

4.00The overall experience was as we expected for a tour with several people. The bus is comfortable and the driver was experienced and very careful. We had two guides that did their job as expected, but we would like to highlight the knowledge and good spirits of Bernadetta. She is fantastic!!! We learned a lot about Pompeii. It was fun!!

3.00The long drive from Rome (3hrs both ways) limits your time at Pompeii. The hike up Vesuvius was great - you don't get to go all the way around the cone. Remember to carry toilet paper, the porta potties at Vesuvius did not have toilet paper or running water to wash your hands. The guide for Pompeii did a great job explaining the ruins. However, 1 hour touring the ruins is NOT enough. We say the amphitheater and the spa The Margherita pizza was delicious. However, the pizza was a little soggy, they left too much waster in the mozzarella. If you are not going to spend time in Naples, this side excursion is a good alternative. The driver did a great job and our guide was sweet and knowledgeable. (Pari and Tao)

5.00The long day trip was definitely worth it! We got lucky with the weather, so we enjoyed the stunning views from Vesuvius and the tour around Pompeii. The ride up the volcano was a bit scary, but our driver Paulo handled it very professionally. And our guide Valentina made our experience smooth and pleasant. Thank you!
