After meeting at the meeting point, we will begin our visit by exploring the outside of the Colosseum. Here I will tell you its history, why it was built and the context in which this extraordinary amphitheater was born.

After the introduction, we will enter the Colosseum and descend into the basement, where I will reveal the hidden secrets of these ancient galleries used by gladiators and animals before the fights. We will continue with access to the arena, the heart of the amphitheater, where gladiators fought for glory.

We will then climb to the second level, where we will admire a unique exhibition with the original remains of the Colosseum and a breathtaking view of the entire structure. Finally, we will descend towards the exit crossing the south part of the monument, thus ending our journey through time through the history of the most famous amphitheater in the world.

Having visited the Colosseum before, but only walked round without a guide, the tour we had was brilliant. Definitely worth spending the extra bit of money to go underground. I would give it 5 but on Tripadvisor I couldn’t see (maybe me not looking properly) anywhere that said this tour included the forum too. Which we went the day before so spent a bit of extra money that we didn’t need to. The tour guide was brilliant and added a lot of value and colour to the stories and experience. Apologies I can’t remember his name and not sure on the spelling. Began with Z.

The guide was excellent. We did the tour of 6 and visited the underground, floor and stands. He had pictures showing and explaining the building and area. It was great.
Said is the BEST tour guide hands down in all of Rome!

Great tour today! We took a chance booking with this newer company / tour since the tickets were fully refundable (unlike a lot of other tour companies) and you get to see the arena floor and underground and we also even got included tickets for the roman forum unguided. Given everything, it felt very VIP being in a small group with all the line skips.

I am so glad I was able to book a spot on this tour of the Colosseum with Prime Dia Tours. My tour guide, Said, was so informative and entertaining. I honestly felt like we got much more of a personalized experience in comparison to all the large tour groups we saw. Said was so accommodating and helpful. His knowledge and presentation of the history behind the Colosseum kept me engaged and laughing the whole experience. If you happen to get a spot, you won’t regret it!
