What To Expect
Each coach consists of 4 soft comfortable berths with AC, fresh bed sheets, pillows and throw blankets. A small toilet is located at the back. Doors can be locked from the inside, so you can rest assured the whole way up to the destination.

3.00Parents and 1 child. We took the grab from Sala to Laocai. Very twisty roads so make sure you don’t get car sick. The waiting area is at an Italian restaurant a block away from the station, so be careful not to bring too much luggage. You can arrive early to have dinner and/or take out to eat in the train. When the time comes, the restaurant staff will take everyone walking to the station to the car in the back (car 2 for us). Walk fast as they won’t wait for you. The train is average for Vietnam standards, nothing fancy but clean enough. A sink is nearby to brush teeth and wash up, but that is about it. Bed sheets are clean and the mattress comfortable enough. The AC was working, outlets as well. The ride is as expected. Not so rough or loud. The outside scenes was not much until the morning when entering Hanoi. The conductor will wake you up asking if we want to buy coffee. Arrived around 5:30am. Hanoi station does not have escalators. Tons of cab drivers waiting outside. It’s a fun and great way to travel between the two cities, providing lots of time to spend both days efficiently. Make sure to start sleeping early!
