An absolutely beautiful experience giving us a glimpse into traditional rural Vietnamese life through puppetry. Very well coordinated show, with amazing instruments and beautiful singing. It felt like being transported into another world for an hour. I would highly recommend this show.

This is a must do in Vietnam. The puppets music, singers were so great. I didn't have the English translation but wish I got it so I could understand what was going on as it was all in Vietnamese.

Absolutely loved it. The puppetry was amazing - they get such complicated actions just using long poles under the water! It was funny and engaging even without translation (we didn't get the audio guide). Nicest surprise was the music, which was varied and interesting and beautifully performed. Can't imagine how jaded you have to be to be one of the haters who gets bored after 15 minutes of this.

Avoid booking this attraction through Viator or any aggregator. Try to buy the ticket in person. Not only do these platforms charge 2x-3x the ticket cost, in my case the person who was supposed to give us the tickets told us “there are no more tickets” even though we had booked the previous day. There were at least 10-12 parties from different platforms who were stranded like this. They offered to refund us somehow but my young kid was really disheartened. It’s not the platforms fault to be honest. The management at the puppet show had poor management.

The water puppets, theatre and performers are fabulous, really is a cultural treat for anyone visiting Hanoi. I purchased the 'VIP skip the line tickets'. I had read reviews that the ticket agents were often late or didn't show up so was worried. The line was long and we were told the shows had all sold out for the next 2 performances. It was crowded in the foyer but I did eventually find the agent with my tickets and they were front row tickets. I am so glad I had pre purchased them as we wouldn't have gotten to see the show otherwise. The agent should have identified themselves though as I was searching asking everyone with a lanyard if they had our tickets. Our agent had no lanyard, clipboard or uniform so was hard to spot her in the crowd. This is not a tour as advertised on the Viator site, all the attractions listed are free in the surrounding area. The agent is literally a tout who buys tickets and sells them on at a higher price. All that said, it worked out well for us.
