A fun tour of the fish market! Before we went to the market we went to the Buddhist temple which was fascinating and in the Indian style. The fish market was amazing! We tried many different items including sushi, oysters, Japanese rolled omelet, eel, whiskey, Wagyu beef and sweet treats. Our guide was great!

This is a very nice tour. Neither me nor my wife is a real foodie but we both enjoyed this tour very much. For the success of any enterprise two things are needed: concept and execution. For this tour, both are excellent. The concept: in contrast to other Tokyo food tours like those at Shibuya or Shinjuku for which the cost of food is part of the total cost, so that you eat what the tour guide orders, on this tour you are shown several places and have a choice: eat now or move on and eat later at another place. The execution: our tour guide Riki was excellent. He speaks virtually native English, is very knowledgeable, and knows the market extremely well, so he brought us to places that he knew we could try some ready-made food to decide whether to buy it, and also he showed us several places where the food is being prepared to decide whether we stay or move on to the next location. He also showed us an interesting Buddhist temple nearby (which was our first stop on the tour), and a knife shop where we bought an authentic Japanese knife. Overall: an excellent experience, one of the best tours we’ve ever been on: Very well deserved five stars!

Booked our tour for 9:00 am to get a jump on the day. Since it was a 90 minute tour we would have more afternoon exploring the city. We started at the temple and then the fish market which was a quick walk through and then finished in the markets to purchase any food sampling you desire. Since we booked early we were mostly full from Breakfast but we did have grilled Alaskan King Crab which was amazing!!! Our guide spoke English and shared many facts on the area. Booked through Viator as always as I know they get only the best!

In theory one could do the temple and the fish market by oneself and for free, but it can get easily very overwhelming. All the food stalls we passed were very tasty and lots of interesting information was given. The guide is super helpful and will take care of all communication, so if you prefer a hasslefree experience: this is your tour. If you feel adventurous and are not afraid of communicating with the locals, you can also do the fish market on your own, it's just a food market open to the public.

This tour felt authentic and the insider knowledge about local customs made it way better than going alone.

We left this tour and did our own. Take my advice and get dropped in the morning before the crowds come and select your own delicious spots. There is no fee to visit the temple and market as listed on this experience. Our tour guide was nice, but we had late guests we had to wait for as well as it was such an awkward tour all together. I was really disappointed. Anyone can take this tour on their own. It is a waste of time and money.
