• First Northern Lights

  It was cloudy, so we weren’t sure we’d see the Northern Lights, but our guides Blandine and Valentino drove around for almost two hours until they found clearer skies. We could see the lights peeking through the clouds, and they showed up even brighter on the iPhone camera. We stopped at two different spots whenever there was a good chance to watch them. The hot chocolate, cookies, and bonfire made the breaks really cozy. Just a heads-up: dinner isn’t included, so eat beforehand or bring snacks (pizza/burgers aren’t allowed on the bus). The professional photos are great, but you get one per person. Overall, a really good experience!

  The guide and driver were very good - took us all the way to Finland as it was too cloudy in Tromso. Best decision and perfect night! Definitely recommend!!!

  Our guides were Simon and Claudia. It didn’t look promising for a while, as it was a very cloudy day, but we had a great view of the lights. Our guides set us up in a great spot to see the lights. They even went longer than the posting claims, making sure we got as many opportunities as possible. Our bus driver also navigated us back to Tromsø in a blizzard and got us back safe.

  Buses were part of a team of guides who were communicating with each other to find the best spots for viewing. Hot drinks and snacks served over seats around a camp fire. Multiple languages spoken so it will be easy to follow along. They also offered to have one free professional photo. Washroom also available on the bus if needed. =)

  During an intense solar storm, this tour failed on every operational metric that matters for Aurora hunting. They simply drove from one cloud-covered location to another on what was clearly a pre-selected, repetitive route—not a dynamic chase. Although they claimed to be coordinating with other buses, the route never changed, and it was obvious they were not actively monitoring weather or Aurora data. Three days earlier, my wife and I took a small-group tour (8 people in a van) that actually chased the lights. The guide tracked real-time solar data and cloud movement. He was transparent from the start: solar activity was low and Tromsø was socked in. He made the call to drive far east into Finland where skies were clear, giving us a real chance to see the Aurora. That guide was prepared, knowledgeable, and focused on maximizing success. Our results were fantastic! By contrast, this large-bus operation (50+ people, many from a cruise ship) felt like a crowd-shuttling experience, not an Aurora chase. Language issue: You must declare your preferred language and pay different rates. This tour was supposed to be in English. Instead, most of it was conducted in Spanish, making the “language-based pricing” meaningless. Bottom line: If your goal is to actually see the Northern Lights, spend a bit more and book with a company that adjusts in real time and chases clear skies. Not this tour.

  We had a really good time and managed to see the northern lights at each spot we visited. On Viator we had booked 4 adults and 2 children however when we arrived for our tour we were told that our son was too young to attend. Luckily, the coach driver had a car seat and they were kind enough to let us bring him along. If any other families with small children are looking at this tour, it’s not actually available for children under 5.

  Guides were very friendly and tried to stop several times for 'sky-checks'. Saw a brief glimse of some green lights behind the clouds.

  During the tour we are taken by bus to a place about an hour to see the auroras. The guide in Spanish was quite friendly. The experience was good, only in the information it says they provide cold suits (although we don't need them, they only have 6 that we were offered if someone needed) and also says it includes professional photographs (the first is free, the others you have to pay if you want to download them).
