Explore Vietnam‘s most colorful craft village, while learning new camera skills from your pro photographer guide. As well as iconic images of workers among the red incense, we'll introduce you to hidden, photogenic corners of this captivating community. We pick you up at your hotel and leave Hanoi by car, arriving in Quang Phu Cau at around 10am. By this time, the villagers have already set out incense bundles to dry, and we’ll get pictures of people working among this sea of red. We’ll have time to capture a variety of shots of the workers in action, including from high above. We then venture further into the village workshops, shooting images of the incense-making process, including bamboo chopping, dipping the sticks in dye, and the creation of incense paste. We’ll take more images of the friendly locals who have worked on producing incense in this village for generations, creating a visual story of this unique place. We wrap up with a professional photo review and selection session on the way back to your hotel in Hanoi.

Our guide Tung was excellent and our driver was great. Tung introduced me to a new type of photography that day which was very helpful. He was very attentive to both my husband and myself.

In Focus tour to Quang Phu Cau to shoot the production of the incense was a great experience. Although the village is full of tourists ,Brian our guide, knew to take us to the real backstage of the production, visiting very authentic families each is taking part in a different stage of the production. In focus were very professional and Hai was very helpful in putting together this tour to make it successful.

I went on this tour with a friend to get a more personalized tour of the incense village and Tung made sure we got exactly that! We got to explore an area off the beaten path and ask questions to the workers. We great tips on good shots and pointers to get a good story on camera.

The tour was amazing. Tung our photographer/guide was professional, polite, very helpful and spoke exceptionally good English. He took us the real side of the incense village life and the instagrammable part. A real hidden gem. We both had a great time in fact it was the highlight of our trip to Hanoi.

Its an instagrammable spot no doubt but do not expect any massive colorful field! The display area is rather small and is often crowded!

It was truly an amazing experience having being able to see the workshops and workers who create the incense sticks and their processes. Tung guided us through our photography journey on the day and we were able to produce some truly beautiful shots. He also took us to a lovely lunch spot to try the speciality cha ca dish of Hanoi which added to the uniqueness of our day with him. I can not recommend this tour any more as it was an intimate experience with a friendly and knowledgeable guide. I would recommend you book this tour with a couple days left in your Hanoi trip in case the weather is not perfect and are able to reschedule it but it was still an experience regardless of what the weather was. A favourite experience of mine during my first visit to Vietnam.

The thing i really like about the tour was the good relationship between the tour organiser and the owner of the incense factory we visited. We were treated to a delicious lunch, and allowed to go around and see all the different steps in the making of the incense, which was fascinating. If i had just turned up, or been with a larger group, i am sure this would not have been possible. The photographer guide was great too and suggested some photographic shots i would not have thought of, he also took a photo of me with the incense, which is probably my favourite photo of the whole of my six week trip in Vietnam

Great tour of the facility and the entire process. Brian showed me the various stages of the incense making process and also guided me about using my camera in various settings. The lunch afterwards was delicious too!

First things first. The communication by Vietnam in Focus is on point, right till the end of the trip. They are very organized. They really put an effort to know the kind of photographer you are (by means of a questionnaire they will send you before any trip). I found that to be really insightful. Coming back to the trip itself, the incense village is no longer a secret, thanks to Instagram! Hence Adrian, our mentor for the trip laid emphasis on avoiding the oft-repeated compositions. He explained the whole process of incense making and asked us to work on a series of images narrative of the process. All along, it was more of subtle guidance and suggestions, where we discussed lighting and compositions. In addition to being a very good photographer, he is a lovely person to talk to, and there was never a dull moment during the trip. We called it a day with a lovely lunch in Hanoi. I am glad I decided to go with Vietnam in Focus
