18:00-19:00 Arrive at lodge (dinner and nap)
Day 2
1:00 re-start (1.5-3 hours with guide)
4:00-5:00 Summit and sunrise ※Go around the crater (Extra 1,000yen to guide)
5:00-6:00 Descend (3-4 hours with guide)
9:30-10:30 Arrive at 5th station
11:30 Bus Departure
13:00 Bathing & Lunch (Hanano-Yu)
14:30-15:00 Bus departure→Shinjuku (without guide)

5.00Needed decent fitness but there were plenty of breaks and should be easy enough to follow for new hiker. Was pretty crowded during holiday/climbing season.

3.00It’s worth the expense of having experienced guides with you. Meals are provided, the onsen was great and sleeping accommodations were good for being on the top of a volcano. My score is low because we couldn’t go to the summit. The guide recommended we not because we did struggle to go up. We were fine with this but we went down alone and got lost. We ended up on another trail and it was 90 mins way from the original trail. We had to pay a taxi to get back to the bus and were almost left. It would have been great if one of the many guides stayed to take the small group back who couldn’t reach the summit. I communicated with the guide and he didn’t care , just said I wouldn’t make it back and could cancel the remainder of the tour.

3.00This activity is a must do for your Japan trip, however if you don’t speak Japanese this isn’t the tour for you unless you have no other options. We had to reply on tourists to understand what was going on, instructions, etc.

1.00I’ve got injured and the group just left me behind. I had to pay 15.800 yen for a night in another mountain hut.
