You’ve spent a day traveling, so it’s a free day to start your holiday. Sleep in, relax and explore the attractions and sites of Cairns, at your leisure. There are many free things to do, including visits to the Cairns Esplanade precinct and Lagoon pool, Cairns Regional Art Gallery, Botanic Gardens and Tanks Arts Centre. Also, lots of centrally located attractions, including the Cairns Museum, Dome and Cairns Aquarium. (Own cost) In the early evening, make your own way down to the Cairns Marina and board the Spirit of Cairns, for a 2.5-hour dinner cruise, in the calm waters of Trinity Inlet. It departs at 6.30pm and returns at 9pm. During this time, the afternoon turns to evening and the city lights begin to shine, as you explore the waters of the Cairns waterfront. There’s live musical entertainment and a delicious buffet meal, featuring fresh, local produce. You receive a complimentary welcome drink on arrival and can purchase additional beverages from the onboard bar (Own expense).

Kuranda, the Village in the Rainforest, is located on the banks of the Barron River, high in the mountains above Cairns. Its relaxed vibe includes two large markets, a range of buskers and a few rainforest walking trails. There’s cafes, restaurants and pubs. Galleries, boutiques, jewelry shops and more. . Enjoy 3 hours free time in Kuranda. Arrive back at your hotel at around 5.30pm

Today is yours to explore the other wonders of our beautiful region. There’s lots of free things to do, including a visit to Cairns Regional Art Gallery, the Cairns Botanic Gardens, Esplanade Lagoon Precinct and Munro Martin Parklands. Alternatively, the hotel has a full tour desk to assist you with other touring options (this would be at your own expense), or just relax by the pool soaking up the tropics.

Get ready to explore the ancient World Heritage listed Daintree Rainforest. Mossman Gorge is our first official destination. A beautiful gorge carved out by the Mossman River and tumbled with large granite boulders. You have the chance to swim in its cool, clear waters, before we continue to Daintree Village for a restaurant lunch with a range of meals available. Then enjoy a 1-hour cruise on the Daintree River where you might see crocodiles, birdlife, turtles and more. We then cross the river on a cable ferry into the rainforest. A guided boardwalk tour allows you to see more of this tropical environment up close. Our most northern point of the day is Cape Tribulation beach, the only place on earth where two natural World Heritage sites – the reef and rainforest – exist side by side. From there we retrace our steps to Cairns, but not before a final stop at the Daintree Ice-Cream Company (which can be purchased at your own expense).

This is an amazing day spent exploring the Great Barrier Reef. Transport is on a spacious and comfortable boat, which gets you to the outer Great Barrier Reef in style. Enjoy up to 6 hours at the reef, visiting 2 separate reef sites. Unlimited snorkeling, including equipment and instruction, and the chance for a scuba dive. Glass bottom boat tours provide a different perspective (run, pending weather conditions).

Great Barrier Reef
The day begins with an exclusive Forest Waterfalls 4WD Adventure. Travelling in a comfortable 4WD vehicle, you’ll visit three Wet Tropics Rainforest National Parks. Visit mighty trees, swim in crystal clear waters and taste some tempting tropical fruit. This is a premium, small group touring experience, which is fully guided and accompanied and with an informative commentary. Returning to Cairns, it’s time for a 40-minute scenic flight over the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. The aerial perspective really shows the size and scale of the Great Barrier Reef. Remember to take your camera, as there’s the chance to get some amazing photos. A soaring way to end the touring component of your trip.

4.00The most memorable day was definitely the Mossman Gorge, Daintree and Cape Tribulation. The meal was superb in the rainforest. The half day trip to Baron Gorge was great too and interesting to see the hydro-electric station. Meals provided including the cruise dinner were all very good. I found all the guides helpful and the trips were well-coordinated without a hiccup. My only complaint was the ticket on the return trip by skyrail from Kuranda. The instructions on the ticket about alighting at Red Oak were very ambiguous indeed and could've been worded much better. It didnt tell us that we were going on to Smithfield to meet out coaches and everyone was confused about what we were doing.

Also offered accomodation and airport pickup, i loved all the activities booked. It’s great to feel safe when you are travelling alone as the tour guides really take care of you

5.00A well organised tour. We had a fabulous tour guide in Alfred. He was very knowledgeable and thoughtful of the needs of varying people on the bus. A highlight was the train from Kuranda and the contrast between the magnificent Daintree Rainforest and the vastness of the Outback. The accommodation both in Cairns and Cooktown was good. We particularly liked the Sovereign Resort Hotel in Cooktown.

5.00Our tours were well organized. Stayed at the Coral Tree Inn clean, quiet, easy walking distance to the waterfront and harbour. Down side, No elevator and the breakfast was $17.00per person with discount. Harbour cruise with lunch very good. Reef cruise and dive was good, a long day but worth it. The Draintree & Cape was 12 hrs but worth every minute our driver Steve was funny and very informative and never rushed anybody. We were ready for our day off by then. Next was the kuranda Scenic Train and skyrail excellent trip. The GSL Aviation flight over the reef was just fantastic. Rainforest and Waterfalls our driver Mic took us through the real back roads to view the untouched nature. Another excellent driver only three of us in the SUV. Everything Discovery tours said they delivered. Would definitely use them again.
