Head over to Great Keppel Island for a day trip with our ferry company in conjunction with Great Keppel Island Hideaway & GKI Water Sports & Activities. Departing on the 9am ferry service over to the island, it's a short 30 minute join to the main beach on Great Keppel Island. Please note, there is no jetty on the island so the ferry pulls in, ramp goes down and you disembark straight onto soft white sand - you may get wet feet! Upon arrival, head towards the Hideaway sign (look for the hula girls on the logo) and you'll come to the GKI Watersports & Activities. This is where your choice of full day snorkel hire or 1hr SUP/kayak can be arranged. Carrying on up the sandy track, you'll come onto the Hideaway's lawn area - this is where your lunch and refreshment component are included, please note lunch hours are 11:30am-2pm. You departure from the island is 4pm.

My husband & I took the 7:30am ferry. There’s never much wind at that time so we had a dream run over to Great Keppel Island. We had a coffee & raisin toast for morning tea at the Resort then walked the beach. Snorkelled all over the headland seeing lovely coral, a turtle, a small Leopard Shark, a large Sting Ray, a small Blue Spotted Fan Tail Ray, lots of Anemone fish, Sweetlips, Drummers, Parrot fish, Trigger fish, Damsel Fish & lots more small tropical fish. The water temperature was about 27’C …no wet suit required. Enjoyed a relaxing swim then walked back to the Resort, showered, had lunch then caught the 2:00pm Ferry back to Rosslyn Bay. The wind was up by now. We’re both in our 70’s but we had the kind of day we loved. Overall, a great day with Keppel Konnections. Safe & efficient. Thank you.

Excellent experience and definitely worth visiting. It's a great place to snorkel or just relax by the beach. We hiked and saw the super quiet side of Keppel Island so that was nice.

Went across on the ferry with my wife as part of a deal. Return ferry/ lunch and a drink and snorkeling ( if wanted.) All up 7 hours. (Bit long for us) enjoyed the beach and sand and also the lunch. Needs some TLC. Looks to be a little rundown. Booked an earlier ferry ( were there for around 5 hours, which was enough for us. Rang up and changed our ferry return time to 2 hours earlier. They neglected to tell us the drop off point may not be the pickup point due to tidal changes and the ferry’s access to the beach. Need to keep an eye out for that. Great day anyway.

Great Friday afternoon trip 1.00pm till 7.15pm with my partner and our dog. Walked to Long Beach, so magical and worth the walk. Snorkelled as well at other spots. Watched the Sunset having a couple of brews from The Hideaway Bar and Bistro. Everyone friendly and a great way to spend an afternoon. The staff at the Hideaway where great when I reported my ost my bank card while on the island and it was sent back the next day on a Keppel Konnections ferry! We are definitely looking forward to booking a few nights next time on Great Keppel island.

WOWEE...where to start! We took Keppel Konnections over to Great Keppel Island on Friday 12/9/25 and it was beyond our expectations. We saw a review where you could get a return ticket, dinner and then a late ferry back to Yeppoon so took this option to maximise our time on the island and enjoy the magical sunset. It did not disappoint! We swam, snorkelled, read our books and did some wandering around the island and took over a picnic packed lunch. At around 430pm we made our way to the Keppel Hideaway Bar/Restaurant and secured a beaut picnic table and settled in for watching the sunset. The day was perfect and we would use Keppel Konnections again. They were safe, on time, friendly and going back to Yeppoon at night was an adventure!
