Earthling will guide you on an incredible backcountry route that is scenic and calm. It begins from the street and ends at the top of Fløya, a local mountain that overlooks Tromsø. Along the way your guide will share fascinating knowledge about life in the Arctic, local history, culture and the environment. Less frequented by tourists and even locals, the Earthling route offers a quieter way to enjoy Tromsø’s natural beauty and offers a chance at seeing wildlife such as reindeer, foxes, ptarmigan, hares and eagles. At the peak you will be rewarded with a sandwich, a warm drink and a snack. Time to take photos of the sweeping views of the city below, the fjords and the surrounding mountains! Next we’ll trek down to Fjellstua, a cafe where you can enjoy the comfort and satisfaction of a tasty dish. If you wish to purchase a one-way ticket to take the cable car the rest of the way down, Fjellheisen (cable car) is right here! From here it is also possible to descend by using the sherpatrappa (stairs). Otherwise we’ll continue on down to where we started the hike. Now you've experienced authentic Norwegian Arctic!

We were looking for something a little bit different than the standard cruise excursions so booked a hike with Phil from earthlings. We had a great time, Phil was full of interesting and useful information and gave us a challenge that was not too easy, not too hard, just right. The view was beautiful and we happen to be going during the fall change of colors. The area up on the plateau is truly full of beautiful views in every direction.

Very satisfied with the trip! It's nice to explore new places with a local person sharing his knowledge and experience, in an amazing view. I've been in tromsø for 2 years and l didn't knew that such wild nature could be experienced so closed to the city centre.

A hidden gem of Tromsø! Definitely off the beaten path. Phil's tour was a delight to join! We hiked along local paths rather than the usual ones tourists take. It was exciting to feel like I was out in the wilderness while being so close to the city. It was an easy and fast bus or walk to the meeting point directly from the sentrum. Phil was so welcoming and connected to his guests. He brought hiking poles, drinks, tasty snacks and sandwiches - we didn't lack for anything. We had great views and learned a lot about the local geology, history and flora and fauna! We even sampled lots of berries and collected a few mushrooms! I was even so excited to still see snow during the warm summer! The tour was 5 stars, definitely something unique to do that is fun, interesting, active/outdoors, and exceptional value for money.

Highly suggested. The path was gorgeous, with a lot of berries and a splendid view over the valley; easy to walk but various and outside the usual touristic ways. The guide's a very interesting and kind person, giving stimulating information and context without lecturing or being boring. If you like nature and doing more authentic things outside the "mass touristic" concept, this is absolute gold. Extra good point for the quality of the snacks :)
