What To Expect

Lake Arenal

Lake Arenal is the largest reservoir in Costa Rica, and has a unique scenic beauty, where you can appreciate beautiful views of the Arenal Volcano. Enjoy a day on the Lake paddling in a Kayak, where you can discover the fauna and flora that inhabit the place. The tour consists of two hours paddling through the calm waters in the company of a Naturalist Guide who will help you with paddling techniques, and to visit unique beaches with a variety of birds, mammals, and other species. This activity is suitable for the whole family, and can be enjoyed in a single or double kayak.

The Lake Arenal kayaking excursion was a highlight of our trip to Costa Rica. Starting from pick-up, our guide Martin and driver Orlando made sure we were comfortable and having fun. Martin was knowledgable and adapted the tour to our interests. Thanks to his skill and thoughtfulness, we were able to experience the magical surroundings including Arenal volcano and the surrounding primary rainforest. We also saw many species of birds including a Scarlet Macaw… and even howler monkeys! The weather around the volcano changes quickly, so we had both sunshine and rain while kayaking. When we got back to shore, Orlando had towels and fresh fruit prepared for us. 5/5 stars, unforgettable experience from start to finish. Thank you, Martin and Orlando!

Great experience with my family kayaking around lake Arenal. Josue our tour guide was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the area, and Clever our driver was great also. Both very professional. I would recommend this activity to anyone in the area.

A brilliant experience kayaking around the lake, seeing the birds and chatting with our knowledgeable guide, Josue! We were given fruits, and we were able to leave our bags safely with our driver, Clever.

We had a great kayak experience with Nelvin! He explained the history of the lake, pointed out different bird species, and showed us a nice place for a quick swim. He took lots of great photos of the experience. The fruit afterwards was a nice treat as well!

We really enjoyed our kayak excursion on Lake Arenal. Our guide, Michael Lopez (M-Lo, for short) was so patient with us! My husband and I are very infrequent kayakers, but Michael took it slowly and it was a delightful morning. We saw some neat birds and it was so lovely to be on the water - enjoying the lake and the beautiful reflections. It was a very enjoyable excursion.
